how to upgrade built-in google to a new version

saw there's a newer version of google map online, checked the built-in but no luck finding any upgrade options. dose anyone know how to do that? dont wanna take up too much storage space by having 2 diff versions of same program. thanks lot...

Yup, you can just download and install over the existing version.

Just go to m.google.com on your phone and go to Maps. But the only thing the newer version offers over the default one is transit (bus) information and a new icon... I say stick to what you got unless you need transit info.

tried that, but it seems the old version still there. i'll just keep the built-in one. thanks for the info.

Why do you say the old version is still there? As I said it looks a lot like the default version, so you should go into the about section and check.

I just downloaded the CAB file through Opera, opened and it installed over the old one without even asking me where I'd like it installed.

The transit info is reallly handy if you take the bus- and your city is one of the ones listed.
