Guest realitymonkey Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Ok so here is the problem, I work for a TV company and we work in remote locations that are not covered by your standard SatNav solutions, I am going on a bit of a road trip (8000 miles/9 Countries at almost random) around southern Africa and although I can use the Nokia maps solution for South Africa the rest of the trip does not show up anywhere. Ideally I would like to download the maps from Live or google maps for the area I will be travelling in and store them all on my Omnia although I will have my Macbook Pro with me so could have it all on there (prefereably in a OS X solution rather than a Windows one) Not looking for turn by turn navigation just want to be able to work out where I am and what roads leave from there. Does anyone have any ideas ? My google searches seem to turn up odd solutions that I am not exactly taken by as I would like something that is easy to get this amount of data down. Oh and storage is not a massive problem as I will have in excess of 10 TB worth of storage with me..... Any ideas would be kindly received. Thanks

Thanks If all you want is to display maps on the notebook, there are a couple of solutions out there. Garmin Mapsource is one. You could also use Google Maps and download the map images, or Google Earth. And you can update these images whenever in a place with internet access.
