Guest ImpactMan Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) Samsung OMNIA as a WQVGA (400x240) resolution, and most of all applications is designed for VGA and QVGA resolutions (640x480 and 320x240 respectively). OMNIA game control is difficult if you want to use d-pad buttons or directional keys. So, I was just wondering, if some one can develop an emulator that simulates d-pad buttons and action buttons on OMNIA and make use of the 1/3 of the screen unused for VGA and QVGA applications. Here is my idea: OMNIA DreamPAD What do you think about it? Any one to help me with the "development"? ..... Edited October 5, 2008 by ImpactMan
Guest lastnikita Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 well I think since you can't multi-touch the screen, buttons are useless, you should keep the dpad only, but I hardly see this thing work well unfortunately ;)
Guest somedude Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) this is a good idea. i was thinking about the same thing a while ago. and just because the screen isnt multitouch doesnt mean a gamepad wont work. i used to play games with my lg viewty just fine with its on screen controls. i think all we need to do is create a custom keyboard with the directional and 2,4,5,6,8 keys. Guest pidsw Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I would love to have that. I would probably go with the standard winmo buttons to start with: - dpad directions - dpad press - Windows ( QuickMenu) - OK - mail - action buttons
Guest somedude Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 actually morphgear has a on screen controller for the omnia for use with its nes games.
Guest mandargon Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 When I try launch a SNES ROM, morphgear says "was unable to open the file. Most often this is due to insufficient memory. The console will now be displayed", but I have 25 MB free of memory. How do you do to launch the ROMs? actually morphgear has a on screen controller for the omnia for use with its nes games.

Guest momok Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 I think you should check this out.. somewhat related idea, but using the gsensor to control the dpad functions. It will be pretty useful to control games that use the dpad. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429569

Guest Jokes On You Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) does it work in omnia?? this prog is like a dream come true for omnia; it would be really funny to play games with g-sens There is an application called GRemote that does this but better. Havent got it to work on my Omnia but ppl on the forums have. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...097&page=84 @ImpactMan- Most PPC emulators and games already have their own control system. Now if you were making a dpad that acted like a number pad like tapping up is the number 2, tapping down is the number 8 then that would be really great. Edited December 9, 2008 by Jokes On You
Guest ivanxxx Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 thnx for your advice jokes on you I am already using gRemote and able to play nfs carbon with it B) I meant to control games on omnia B) if gRemote is something happened, why gControl cant be modified to work on omnia and sending dpad commands to selected programs?? I wish developer interest in this subject.. I would encourage users to donate for this progs, if it happens..
Guest frmariam Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Depends on the product... While most commercial games may have this, freeware/homebrew ones don't... We face enough issues already with the odd screen res... Frustrating to add lack of proper control methods to the list... More so with products no longer supported by devs. I'd really love to see a per-app configurable program like this but for what I've read here and at XDA-devs I'm afraid I won't...

Very funny moment. By the way, I'm looking for a foldable bluetooth keyboard nowadays.. I think I'm gonna buy one..
