Guest woodward_uk Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Hi I am trying to establish a dial-up connection using my Omnia as the modem. I have created a new account under Internet Sharing and selected Cellular Line as the modem, which then gives me the facilty to enter the landline no. that I wish to dial. When I try to connect I can see the number being dialled in the connecting....... status box, but it eventually times out and the number is never dialled. Is it possible to configure a modem for the Omnia under XP on my laptop which would give me the facility to handle the dialling etc through windows? Thanks Steve

Thanks Steve Hi there, Bit confused by what you are trying to do here...Do you want to use the the Omnia to access the internet? Or are you wanting to dial-in to a specific number? If it's the former, simply pair the omnia over Bluetooth, then activate Internet Sharing and voila - you have hi-speed internet access. If you are wanting to dial a specific number then someone else will have to answer the question. It's definitely possible - I used to do it years ago with a nokia when I was a cub reporter, but have had no need for dial-up for about five years now. Good luck
Guest Watcher_q Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 I tried to do the same, to make my Omnia a modem. It needed it to send faxes. The phones used to have this function. In fact, a loaned N93i has it when scan for bluetooth devices. However, not the Omnia. Can someone definitively confirm if Omnia has bluetooth-modem functionality?

Afaik the Omnia Bluetooth stack does not support DUN. If you want to use mobile internet you need to use PAN (which can be activated by turning on internet sharing) and can be used over USB or Bluetooth.
Guest Raul6 Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 see when using bluetooth pan http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-h...luetooth-modem/
