XTRA Update Download

the XTRA or enhanced GPS downloading doesnt notify you if you are successful or not, I have to manually verify that the XTRA.bin file has changed its modified date to current date to know that it is successful. Plus the fact that it takes like 5 minutes, i had to retry it a couple of times, then launched Opera to see that I have a network, then found the problem, fixed it and able to download XTRA, that is after 1.5 hour (trying to lock on a settelite, trying to download XTRA, trying GPS again, download XTRA again, trying internet connection.).

It wouldnt take that long if the XTRA download would only notify me that:

a. It cant connect to the server

b. the update was not sucessfull

c. last time the XTRA.bin has been updated

I hope there are other apps there that can update XTRA more efficiently.

i get the notifications:

"XTRA data download fail" , "Unable to access network. Please try again." if something goes wrong.

and

"XTRA data download and injection success" if everything goes fine..

dang it, mine is DXHI2, can you lift the program that download XTRA from your rom? thanks

My extra freezes if it can't connect to an internet connection (messed up some settings) and just doesn't write anything when it downloads the data. If the connection fails (any number of reasons other than messed settings) i get a XTRA data download fail message.

But it does download it really fast via hsdpa (second or two).

thanks dude, now its downloading so fast i dont know if its really downloading, but i see the file's modified date being updated.

may i ask, why its not even initiating 3G connection? i mean can it really download? without data connection?

EDIT:

i was connected via ActiveSync not asking for connection. after disconnecting from activesync, i tried to update again, and the modified date isnt updating, so the connection failed and update failed, but still no notification, but at least it doesnt take 5 minutes to update.

it requires internet connection to download. when you're connecting to activesync it uses the internet network on your pc. once disconnected, if wifi isn't on, it will connect through gprs.
