Blackberry connect not playing well with others

I'm fairly new to the Pocket PC phone arena, so I might just be missing something obvious. Here's the issue. Our corporate folks dictated that Blackberry was the way things were going, so I downloaded BlackBerry Connect for my Tilt. It works fine. However, other applications (IE, Fring, Twitter, etc) that try to use the data connection can't get through because of the BB proxy server settings (I think). So I tell them to use MediaNet which works for the most part, but sometimes the applications won't let go of the connection so that BB connect can re-establish connection. In the case of IE, it tends to let go too easily and then have to reconnect all the time. I have tried removing the proxy server, but it just gets added back in again. I also tried the registry hack to enableautodetect = 1 and that didn't seem to change anything. Is there any way to tell the network connection to direct BB stuff through the BB server and all other stuff through the MediaNet Proxy?
