Guest kslakhani Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Hi folks ;) , I have finally found the solution for TomTom 7 to get it work without extras and without gpsGate. you need either GPSPROXY 2.2 or PortSplitter both are free, i recommend GPSPROXY. I have tested and TT7 catch signal within 2-3 secs :( pls install latest .net CF first b4 u install GpsProxy I am also attaching GpsProxy for you. GPSProxy_2.2_Setup.zip here is the full English explanation how to get it done link:( pls read carefully) http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl...2008-40,GGLG:en the site is in Spanish/Dutch www.winmo.nl again guys pls follow the steps correctly b4 you post  enjoy pls post your reivews. thnx kslakhani
Guest DeOS Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 GPSPROXY and PortSplitter have the same functionality as GPSgate, right? Share your GPS device with mutiple programs. In other words: you still have to use a piece of extra software. What is so special about your solution?
Guest Hendrickson Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 (edited) I can use it without any software, but it involves a reset. Here's how. Simply start tomtom 7, then exit tt7. Restart the i900 (soft rest). Once booted launch tomtom 7 again and wait about 30sec to a 1min it will find satellites now. Its a pain but it works. Well works for me. Guest FutureDirt Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 lol at tom tom 7 finally sorted. your "solution" is exactly how it was and how it will be.
Guest aiken Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 except a small fix in TT7 main programs, there is no "solution" to make it work as it without any special manipulation (rest etc......). the one you are exposing is same as using GPSGATE except it uses free software, so thanks to share it with the community

Hi DeOS, the special is you dont have to pay for gpsProxy as its free. you dont have to use your internet/gprs so you dont have to pay 4 that too. and some other guys reported gpsGate crashes sometime. and its not about the speciality its all abt how to get it work untill TT itself pronounce patch. All you have to do is run the gpsProxy b4 tt 7/6 and run tt7. the bug is not in the phone but it is with tt7/6 itself as you can see you can run any other softs like garmin or copilot.... without extras and they work just fine

Guest jclsm Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 The best solution for TT7 is Igo8 ;)
Guest datafanatic Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 The best solution for TT7 is Igo8 ;) Totally agree  DF :(
Guest L.P Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Totally agree ;) DF  Agreed such a nicer GUI and also no need to run additional apps in the background. Routing engine seems more suited to running mobile devices than that of TomToms (in my opinion?)

Routing engine seems more suited to running mobile devices than that of TomToms (in my opinion?) I also like it. And it works on the i900 without all the hassle for TT7. My only problem is to get the radars in. Does anyone know an easy solution ? ;)

Guest FlorianO Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 The best solution for TT7 is Igo8 ;) I haven't checked the latest iGO version, but in the past it was stupid enough of not being able to do things like: - A->B route planning. - multipoint route I've asked if this was fixed in the newest version in the other thread but then it went suspiciously silent And btw, the topic of the thread is about TT

Guest deathks Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I tried this here with TT7 ... and it doesnt really work better than Route66 I got with my i900. I did everything exactly like explained in the first post. It also takes at least 30 seconds with totally free sight to the sky. No improvement for me.

Guest Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 kslakhani, you're the man... i've been reading posts related to the settings that people have on their omnia and TT7 works but I tried everything and could not get TT7 to work. i tried gpsgate and it couldn't detect my gps device so uninstalled that. I read your post. installed GPSProxy. followed the translated instructions to the letter (noting that I didn't need to install the 2 other cabs when my omnia informed me i needed to). hey presto, worked first time... hope the thread now gets back on track... thanks very much for this post, hugely appreciated.
