After getting more and more annoyed with my iPhone 3G I decided to dump it and went and got an Omnia yesterday and generally liking it so far after putting on the DXHI3 rom. I have to be honest although, the iPhone interface really is streaks ahead, but as a phone, the Omnia so far, seems much better.

However, last night I plugged the phone in to charge by my bed, using it as an alarm clock. Luckily I can wake up pretty much on time on my own, and did so this morning, only to find the Omnia had crashed, with the red LED on and nothing happening on the phone at all. I had to resort to taking the battery out and putting it back in again to work.

Has anyone else had this or is there something I need to be aware of when leaving the Omnia plugged in to charge or is this a known bug?

Cheers...

it could be due to battery draining issue because the power button LED is in red...

That happened to me once. But it was w/ HI2 or HI1 and I was browsing using Opera via WiFi. Haven't experienced it w/ HI3 yet.

I think it is a Windows Mobile problem really. I've had many Pocket PC's and all have done this one time or another. It does not happen very often but it is annoying. I seem to remember that Windows Mobile performs some "housekeeping" tasks at night without actually fully waking the device up and this occasionally fails and the device freezes. A soft reset has always fixed it for me.

Thanks for the responses. Seems like I was unlucky and will hope tonight that the alarm will go off tomorrow morning.

Otherwise, the phone is growing on me even while I ignore the the things I'm missing from the iPhone's interface (speed for example).
