Guest meddleuk Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 Hi, Hope someone can offer some advice. I am using Kinoma Play (http://kinoma.com/) as my new music player as an alternative to Pocket Player. I had previously sworn by Pocket Player as the best music player but the interface and speed of the menu in Kinoma just blows it away together with the Ipod. I certainly never thought I would see a player as responsive with such an impressive frontend for a Windows mobile phone. But I do have a problem ! ;) With most music players I've used on the Omnia, when screen auto shuts off in power save mode or when I press the power button to shut off the screen the player continues playing audio track after track until the playlist ends or I close the program. However when the same thing happens while running Kinoma and the screen goes off, the next track is played silently (no audio outout at all), until I turn back on the screen, and advance to the next track then the audio comes back. As I like to throw my phone into my coat pocket on the train this is a real inconvenience and the only alternative is to not shut off the screen, but then my battery would be wasted. I am using a 16GB Omnia flashed with I900DXHI3, it was previosuly XXHG5 but acted the same way. Cheers, meddle I raised this as an issue on the Kinoma support forum and I am still waiting for a fix. I was hoping some other Omnia Kimona users could share their experience. If not is there anything you could suggest or a registry tweak to help.
Guest lastnikita Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 you can manually turn the screen off, instead of suspending, as a workaround meanwhile. that shouldn't differ much from suspending it regarding the battery..
Guest mj_blue Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I hadn't heard of this kinoma player so went and had a look and have installed the Kinoma freeplay version. When my Omnia goes into standby or when I press 'power off button' the music carries on playing for me, I'm on DXHI1.. hope this helps Mark
Guest meddleuk Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I am happy to say I have found a workaround for the Audio off problem on my Omnia when the screen is switched off. As I said before when I manually switched the screen off using the Power button or let the player auto switch it off from the power settings the player would stop playing audio when the track changes. All other players I have used do not suffer from this, only Kinoma. I have been playing about with the system settings and can now get it switch off the screen while continuing to play an album. On the Omnia, Go to Settings, Then Personal and then click on Buttons. On the Program buttons tab I selected the Menu Hardkey and assigned it to (Screen Toggle) from the pulldown list. When I then press the Menu hardkey on the Omnia the screen switches on and off and audio plays ininteruppted. I can still press the call/End keys, Camera, volume button and Action key. I have found as long as the screen is off the player can happliy sit inm my pocket without any problems with accidental key presses. Hope this works for anyone else out there with this Omnia problem
Guest mobilehappy Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Thanks for the tip, works a treat  Did not have a screen toggle, so i installed psShutXP which a have one included.
Guest mobilehappy Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Kinoma has just released an update to Kinoma Play which among other things are supposed to fix the sound cutting off after current track when the Omnia is in power down mode. Edited October 15, 2008 by mobilehappy
Guest meddleuk Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Yes I can confirm the update works. Just installed it and Kinoma now continues playing music while the screen is off by either auto power save or hitting the power button. Perfect!
