I am getting this on my phone. I have no signal strength. Does this mean I have no signal or it is not allowing me on?

My housemate has an 8210 and it is showing 4 bars and I have never had any problems with a signal on my 6210 in my house.

Any ideas?

Is this your new SIM for your SPV?

It sounds like you are using a SIM that hasn't been activated yet (or has been de-activated!)

Its my NEW sim I am trying to use - the old one says the same - I have a feeling its is due to activation as I did not ring to activate the new one and the old one only lasts for 2 hours

Oops, time to ring Orange methinks!

07973 100150 or 0800 801080 is what you need!

I have the same problem too. My sim-unlocked Tanager from Smart Philippines does not log on to any network upon turning on. I've been using the phone (with Qtek 7070 ROM) for over a year now (with a Globe SIM card that works on other phones) with no problems, then suddenly this.

I tried searching for networks and selecting new networks, but nothing works. It just says "Network Denied, Searching" or "No Service." Even if I try the SIM card from Smart, the phone still won't log on.

However, if I leave it alone for 10 minutes, it does log on to the network. For a very short while, I could send a text and even make a short call. Then the phone appears to still be connected to the network, but if you send it a text message, nothing comes in. And if you try to call it, you get "subscriber cannot be reached." Switching the phone on and off won't solve any problems - the phone still says "Network Denied, Searching" or "No Service."

I brought it to Brightpoint (authorised service center). They tried a hard reset. Nothing. They tried upgrading the Qtek ROM to the latest from the Smart Network (version 1.7). Phone still won't log on to any network. Still displays "Network Denied, Searching" or "No Service." Finally they said the main circuit board needs to be changed, and that would cost me roughly US$300. Whoa!

Would moving to Orange's 1.6 ROM solve the problem? Or do I need a new Tanager?

This happened to me once so I phoned OCS. They suggested giving my SIM card a wipe with a bit of cloth... I thought this was BS but hey, it worked!

I had this message on my phone for ages and in the end the setting

settings, telephony, band selection was set to pcs band

change it back to GSM and it reboots and all is ok then.

Hope this helps

Nope, no problem with the PCS or GSM setting...

Someone told me to reflash to Qtek's 1.5 ROM.

When i brought the phone to BRIGHTPOINT (only authorised service center), they reflashed it to SMART's (the local carrier from whom I bought the phone) 1.7 ROM, which I heard won't accept any attempt to reflash to Qtek's 1.5 ROM. They did this in the hope that it would solve my (lack of) signal problem. It didn't.

Anyway, the phone has been in service for 1 year and 4 months to date, and Windows Mobile 2002 is abit dated.

Either I spend to have it fixed, or I get a new Windows Mobile phone. Any recommendations?
