SD card corruption...

Hi All,

I had an experience last weekend which has got me thinking and wouldnt mind some feedback as to whether I could have a valid point?..

My trinity is original \ this week i finish my 18month contract. I brought a Kingston 1GB media card 14 months ago to run my tomtom6 software which has been fine up until last weekend.

Using the tomtom, i went to a shop in Birmingham, and brought some large items - one of which the checkout guy forgot to "zap" across the anti theft system on the till. As i walked out, phone in pocket, the shop alarms went off after detecting the security tag on the item i just purchased (it was a goalpost detector - that i had to squeeze thru).

The shop assistant waved me thru and i loaded up the car. I sat my M700 back in the cradle and hey presto - my tomtom would not work correctly. I ignored messing too much, and knowing the way home anyway, i left.

Later on at home, i looked at my M700 and discovered the SD card was not visible to the device. I tried everything, i did a hard reset - no good.

I formated the card at work today, and it has picked up the card again - but with intermitant problems relating to the card..

Based on above - is it possible that this magnetic security system in the shop has interfered with the device\ card and caused the probs?. Its been running OK for 12months at least...

I just really smell a rat and think there is a coincidence here??

Any comments would be interesting..

Rich
