Guest meabigbaldguy Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Anyone know if there are any back plates/covers in metall available for Omnia? And if so where to purchase one? This is probably what your looking for... http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Omnia-i900-A...474&sr=8-32 If you don't mind me saying so, you'll regret having spent the money for it or any other like it. I've bought one a few months back, but it won't take but a few moments - after having put it on - to realize that it makes your Omnia as big and bulky as a first generation Gameboy. Add to that the fact that you'll have to open the case up everytime you want to touch your screen - unless of course you remove the heavy plastic screen from the case itself. However, if you're planning on taking your phone to unusual places like construction sites, letting kids play with it, taking it in a warzone, or just tossing it from a rooftop, then it's probably worth the cost. I apologize for the sarcasm, but I really hated the fact that I bought my case and couldn't return it. For me, just having a standard leather case, and putting the protective sheets over the screen works fantastically and definitely costs less.
Guest zyc3 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 To the above post I dont think he means a metal case he means the back battery cover in metal.
Guest pw-man Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 To the above post I dont think he means a metal case he means the back battery cover in metal. Ebay is the place: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OEM-Samsung-Omnia-...1713.m153.l1262
Guest dwallersv Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 As bling as this sounds (intrigues me), I'd think very carefully about this before getting it. Metal is a much better heat conductor, and I'd bet the phone will get too hot to handle comfortably under a variety of usage situations.
Guest mobilehappy Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Ebay is the place: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OEM-Samsung-Omnia-...1713.m153.l1262 That is just a standard back cover, ie. in Plastic.
Guest d1mitrov Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 i broke mine by simply trying to put it back on thats how flimsy it is...so i bought another one on ebay...i wish they would have made it like the Samsung Behold...the cover on that phone is metal and slides in place so easy...anyways i wasnt able to find a metal one for the Omnia either :/
Guest pw-man Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 That is just a standard back cover, ie. in Plastic. Duh... figured a back was a back was a back... oh well... as far as heat, my plastic back heats up just fine.... not super hot to the touch, but hot indeed...
Guest securitas666 Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 see this http://www.ADVERTISING SPAM.com/catalog/product_info....roducts_id=8017
Guest mobilehappy Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 (edited) see this http://www.ADVERTISING SPAM.com/catalog/product_info....roducts_id=8017 Again, not a backplate but a full body casing. Someone else has already posted a link to something similar too. The question was to get a metall backplate only, WHY to increase both the look and feel of the Omnia.... Not to incase it in a metallic monstrosity which makes just it ugly and bigger... So back on track...does anyone know about a metallic battery cover/back plate for Omnia. Kinda like Samsung F-480 / Samsung Behold Edited February 24, 2009 by mobilehappy
Guest ledridge Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 I have been looking for this as well.... and to be more specific, I want chrome like the front frame. I have seen mirrored screen protectors and a chrome back would go with it very well....
Guest xPosTech Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 As bling as this sounds (intrigues me), I'd think very carefully about this before getting it. Metal is a much better heat conductor, and I'd bet the phone will get too hot to handle comfortably under a variety of usage situations. That might improve the tethering capability of the phone. I've seen reports (maybe HoFo?) of screen bleed-through after extended tethering heats the phone. One or two guys thought the diffuser was getting damaged. I would probably embrace better heat transfer. Of course, they could have overheated their phones on those 1-900 calls . . . :( Ted
Guest nvally Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 take a look..... isn't a metallic back plate, but ( BC-001) ( Surface is imitation Leather ) is looking good :(

Guest lattenator Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 I also looking for a original full casing front & back. My using Omnia i900 has unfortunately many scratches. Anybody know where to buy. I hope I can change internal parts myself.

Anybody have these that can comment on their durability and quality of the build???

Guest jeffrey2000 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) This isn't a normal i900, my camera/flash is not at the same location (rotated) so might be i908 or another model. Did some google images search and came across this below ones (1 red metalic) but like the metal one more: and and and some more: http://www.ipmart.com/main/browse/Mobile,P...237.php?cat=237 Found another one with I think better capacity battery (but ugly): Edited March 23, 2009 by jeffrey2000
