Hi folks,

I got me TomTom Navigator 7 a few weeks back, but what else is out there? (I'm particularly frustrated with TomTom's out-of-date maps, and expensive map updates i.e. buy the map again)

What are the other options, and pros and cons?

Thanks!

iGO8 all the way, no ifs, no buts, supreme piece of software (and it works on the Omnia with no faffing around!!)

DF

I also like iGO8 but as far as I know there is still no official UK distributor.

Like TomTom, iGO don't appear to provide map updates very often, and when they do, they are quite pricey. iGO8 uses Jan08 maps in the main, and iGO6 has just had these made available for €80

Quite a few people like CoPilot, I've not tried the latest version but from what I am led to believe it has improved greatly.

My colleagues on 4WM, and my experience of CPL on the O2 Orbit2 still suggest that Co-Pilot has some major issues with routing parameters in some areas; overall the interface is good; options are a little lacking, but the screen is quite nice. However, it has a tendency to misinterpret the 'speed' of a lot of roads, so may take you off a main road, through a town and rejoin the main road later, rather than stay on the main road.

TTN and iGO both use the 'correct' routes in all the scenarios we have tested.

Good, but flawed
