Guest danarc Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 (edited) i have just received a reply to an email i sent to samsung uk and below was the reply: Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics. There is a firmware update going live withing the next couple of weeks. I don't have the exact launch date as it is going through final testing just now. Keep track of when the updategoes live on the Samsung website (www.samsung.com/uk). This should be a home update as well so all you will need to do is download the sofware and install it to your phone. I hope this has been of some assistance to you. If you do have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Kind Regards ......i had to leave out the name....... Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 You are no more likely to brick your phone with one of the updates posted here than an official update... P
Guest ldbs Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 if we have a Signapore version can we update to the UK or World Wide Rom? Do we have to do the trick that Paul has posted to change regions?

Guest Unisoldrew Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 You are no more likely to brick your phone with one of the updates posted here than an official update... P But surely you warranty will be then be valid?
Guest berrymwb Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 But surely you warranty will be then be valid? Indeed, surely if you go to a samsung service centre and say you flashed a non-uk or non-official update they could say your warranty was void? Not that I wouldn't have slipped into BS mode mind. But they must have a pretty good idea what's been bricked. I'd feel a lot easier going in though and telling the truth. In all of this it seems odd that the omnia is so prone to bricking with official updates. What was the percentage in the poll, 7%?
Guest stuzathegreat Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 (edited) ..... So last week  :D Posted the day before with more info - including windows Vista support for flashing Did you speak to Micheal or William or someone else? Edited October 11, 2008 by stuzathegreat

My PHONE WAS COMPLETELY DED WHILE UPGRADING TO DXDI3 AND I SEND IT TO SERVICE CENTRE, BUT I DID NOT TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED, BY DOING THAT AM I VIOD MY WARRANTY? IS THERE ANY WAY SAMSUNG KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MOBILE OR MY MOBILE DED WHILE UPGRADING TO ROM UPDATE, IS I VIOD MY WARRANTY THEN HOW MUCH SAMSUNG CHARGE TO REPAIR IT? PLEASE REPLY URGENT THANKS AAKASH
Guest ZiTe747 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Has anyone updated to the dutch firmware XKHH4 ?
Guest Rednose5 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Has anyone updated to the dutch firmware XKHH4 ? ;) I did two weeks ago when I had my Omnia for only 1 hour. This Rom from the Samsung site almost bricked it. :o I've got a branded Vodafone Omnia also known as I900V. Don't know if that's important but Anyway. At the end of the update I saw some messages about something going wrong and the only thing I was left with was an Omnia logo at startup :D . I already contacted Vodafone to return the phone. But the next day I thought there could go nothing wrong if I tried to update to Singapore Rom which doesn't use Active Sync to update. This worked and since then I've got an unbranded Omnia talking English instead of Dutch :P  . So, I don't recommend it to use it. On top of that I believe it is not a firmware rom but only a rom which makes it possible to change the language settings in the phone.
