Prevent WinMo from reverting to Home screen when switching on?

Hi experts,

Whenever I turn my Windows Mobile phone off and back on again it switches back to the "home" screen and pauses whatever application I was in before. For example, if I'm listening to music/video in CorePlayer, then switch device off & then back on the music will have stopped and I need to reopen CorePlayer. This happens with all applications and is incredibly annoying, I want WinMo to resume with the application I last had running before switching off.

Also, is there a way to keep applications running even after I hit the off switch? It would be neat if I could chose a song and then turn the device off and continue listening to my music. At present I need to keep the device on which wastes battery and the music is easily interrupted by accidental keypresses.

I have an HTC Touch Dual, but I imagine the issues I describe above are common to all WinMo devices.
