Incorrect Software version on Vodaphone?

I have a i900V from France. I've updated it to the official AEHH2 with the official Samsung updater but want to put up DXHH3 (to get 'Connected Home').

When I run other updaters I get 'Incorrect software version'. I've been into the updater with a HEX editor (DXHH3) and can't find a string in UTF-16 that matches i 9 0 0 D X null. I can only find 'i900DX' (UTF8).

What gives? How do I get a English ROM on this phone?

I've read about GrandPrix installs, but don't really understand if that is gonna help me.

PS: I tried the *#1546792*# trick but it doesn't work on Vodaphone phones. :-(
