Hi everyone, I just got my Omnia yesterday and was about to connect the device to the University's wireless.

My uni use WPA with TKIP and use Peap as Authentication, then when i press properties, it said:

"Cannot log on to the wireless network. This network requires a personal certificate to positively identify you."

However according to the IT department, they said pop out a box for me to type in user name, password and domain but seems doesn't come out....

What Should I do?

I have surf the internet about this issue, tried the registry hack "ValidateServerCert" = 00000000 it doesn't work...

Thank you

I'm having exactly the same issue. I was able to get a Diamond Touch to work OK with the PEAP secured Wifi at work with the ValidateServerCert registry change but on the Omnia it seems to make absolutely no difference at all.

This is with DXHI3 firmware.

Has anyone had better luck or managed to find a work around ?

Anyone sorted this problem out yet? I'm experiencing the same on my uni network, got on a couple of times, but it's so inconsistent.

i had this problem with my work wifi, i fixed it by doing the following

goto start\settings\wi-fi

select network adapters tab

connect to 'The internet'

use ne2000 compatible ethernet driver

i've no idea why this works, but it does. Many hours of trawling google\xda-developers came up with this result, not specifically for the omnia either.

I assume you mean try the Mobile Companion program you mentioned in the other thread.

I've tried it and I'm afraid it makes absolutely not difference for me.

One thing I did come across is this thread https://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsMobile/...3&SiteID=65 which mentions at the end that one person managed to solve the problem on his Touch Pro by changing the Wireless LAN Power Saving mode to Best Performance.

However this doesn't seem to be an option with the Omnia.

Personally my suspicion is that Samsung cut some corners with the wifi chipset and fitted one that has compatibility issues (similar to the GPS chip they used).

TBH I'm on the point of giving up on this phone and ditching it for the Nokia 5800 the moment it's available.

For all their faults at least Nokia manage to write PEAP drivers that work with pretty much all available kit.

I just tried this, and it seams to have worked this time, I'll edit this when I've worked out if it works everytime.

Edit: Still working, here's hoping.
