Guest tsutton Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I'm not as my contract is not due yet, but with the USA getting it around 22nd Oct while UK's getting it around 30th Oct - has anyone preordered it yet? Excited about it? What are one (or two) things that you are looking forward to with the G1? And why? Discuss away.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I've 'registered my interest' (no UK preorders as such)! I'm interested to see the Android Market (app store) and to experience more the Capacitive Screen... P
Guest tsutton Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I've registered my interest too - just because there's a draw taking place. The only thing I'm looking forward to is for anyone to write program easily due to the fact that it's open source (well, kinda!)
Guest Chaser81 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 (edited) Registered my interest too, since its free to and there is a prize draw with the possibility of winning one of the blighters! Not sure I would get one though; its a bit chunky for my tastes. Would be interested to see further devices using Android though with nicer looking hardware! Edited October 17, 2008 by Chaser81
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 It'll be interesting if sexier hardware comes out soon after the G1... that'll be a lot of pissed off G1 owners... P
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 It's going to happen, its the look that kills the "I want one" urge for me but will still be interested in the the cost of device and contract so may be swayed.

As well as the "Mark 1" looks, according to the Engadget review there are several parts which don't work very well - including audio quality, RF and GPS. http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/16/t-mobile-g1-review/ Probably best to hold off I think. God knows how they hope to compete with the iPhone when it hasn't even got a headphone socket!
Guest andrewkeith5 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 i haven't pre-ordered as such, but my kind t-mobile rep in my local store has kindly agreed to hold one back for me when they get them in to see if i like it (we're currently both dubious about how well it'll do)
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 I, for some reason, am not interested. And I'm a bit upset at the Windows Mobile turncoats jumping after this device. (ignoring my own iPhone infidelity). If all of our Modaco leaders move to Android...what will become of our Windows Mobile world?
Guest andrewkeith5 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 i think i can understand why you're not interested - the g1 sort of felt really very underwhelming when we finally got all of the details I saw a poster in my local t-mobile shop today annoucing that there's just 6 days till launch....and then thought "actually, i couldn't care less" i think its a classic case of hype ruining a (quite good) product's launch
