VERY FUN: OMIA CAN'T UPDATE SIGNAL STRENGTH REGULARLY

Recommended Posts

Hi,

It is very fun, my Omnia can't update a signal strength regularly. When soft reset is done, a signal is "!" only, and name of operator was "No Service" But i can make and receive a call. After switching off/on a phone settings on Comm manager, the signal strength is updated, but operator is "Home service" only, not just my "Viettel". And it was always one strength showing, could'nt up/down....

At first time, i think this problem due to firmware, but i was update many DXHG3->DXHI1->DXHI2-DXHI3->DXHJ1 the problem still there.

Hope you can share experience to solve this problem.

Thank.

I think you mean that it is funny (or strange). It definitely is not fun for you since your signal keeps dropping

I hate to say it but it could either be your network coverage or your hardware. I had the same problem on my O2 Atom before I bought my Omnia, even with official and custom ROMs installed, had to click on network settings and search for it to find the network after a while of use. Was very annoying, so I bought a new phone...

Why don't you send it to your service center for a check?

Of cause, it's not funny, and i hate it too.

I have returned my Omnia to the shop, where i bought. But they show me several Omia have a same this problem, and they said that new firmware can solve this. I know that those Omnia has imported from Singapore, and my local Samsung service refuse to warrant Omnia bought from abroad.

go to phone/more/band selection and select automatic and see if that works

I recently travelled from hk to canada and had my sim set to the 900gsm frequencly, on landing in Canada there was only the !. And same when I put in a Canada sim.

Then I remembered that I had changed the Automatic to 900 to get rid of the 3G icon at the top. Switching the band to 850 also did not help so was forced to switch to Automatic.

Now all is fine but now there is an E icon + a triangle icon on the top bar and cant find a way to get rid of those. hehe

Yes, i have choose a "automatic band", you have problem only when changing network. My case is direrence, i have a same network, same place.

See a picture on attach, even when strenght is full, the network still "No Service"

May be this cause by unlocking Omnia?

No Service = no need to pay ??

Maybe you should call up the service centre of your phone company and ask

Unlocking should have nothing to do with your problem.

It is quite plausible that you could have signal strength and the words No Service. All the No service indicates is that it hasn't registered with a carrier signal but having full signal bars shows that you are with suitable distance from a mast.

Because of this it does suggest it is more a carrier fault as opposed to hardware and you should make contact with them.
