Text Message storage on Sim? What is simtkui?

Hi

My phone crashed recently and I had to hard reset the device.

All my text messages got lost, but coz my contacts were sync with activesync I managed to recover them

Is there a way to keep the texts on the sim card?

And what is simtkui? I doesnt open, and I tried googleing and couldnt really find an answer.
