Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 So the work continutes on my custom Omnia ROMs, which will show in 'Version' with version numbers starting MCR (= MoDaCo Custom ROM)... This is the third custom ROM, based on DTHJ9. Changes from stock DTHJ9: - Removed Windows Update - Removed Welcome Center - Removed MS Sample Music - Removed .net CF 2.0 - Removed Shozu - Added .net CF 3.5 - Added Remote Desktop Mobile - Added AppToDate - Added Donate - Optimised Samsung applications - Optimised OneNote - Optimised Office - Optimised Other Core applications - Customised version display (MoDaCo Custom ROM 3 = MCR03) - Added MoDaCo to default RSS feeds - Added MoDaCo WinMo Week to default Podcasts - Scientific calculator is back in Known issues: None as yet :D Update format: - Executable for Windows XP... ensure you have the Samsung Modem Driver installed before use! Included: - DXHJ9/MCR03 PDA / CSC - XXHJ1 Radio Stats after fresh boot: Storage Memory: 102.02MB total, 68.18MB free Program Memory: 97.27MB, 59.09 free Feedback welcome  I know lots of people are waiting for a 'clean ROM', but I'm not sure there's a huge amount of benefit. I removed Shozu as it was running at boot, most of the other stuff just sits there until you need it... and we're not exactly short of space are we? ;) Hats off to everyone who made this possible, secany, mrtoto, the PDAMobiz peeps and anyone else i've left out :o Please check out this post for more info... Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Woooo ! I'll do version 2 when you've added the other bits !
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Has the rom included things like the GPS tweaks too?
Guest FutureDirt Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I know lots of people are waiting for a 'clean ROM', but I'm not sure there's a huge amount of benefit. I removed Shozu as it was running at boot, most of the other stuff just sits there until you need it... and we're not exactly short of space are we? benefit for a clean rom would be people could customise it exactly how they want... for example... i myself do not use apptodate or batti so the addition of these into your custom rom is useless for me! also... i am sure that there are peeps who would have no use for rdp. just my 2p :D
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Ah yes, but how clean is clean? My clean is not your clean etc. etc., hehe. ATD has to be useful so you know when there's a new ROM build out no? GPS Tweaks etc. WTFH... i'm preparing a performance tweaks pack (which includes that) for the next ROM. P
Guest MBA140 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Just going off at a slight tangent...is there a way to stop Shozu loading at boot? I've looked in Memmaid for it's start up item but don't recognize it.
Guest Deroo Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I downloaded it Paul. I'm loading it after I'm done posting this. I'd like to see what this offers, plus I'm sure I can help.
Guest FutureDirt Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 ATD has to be useful so you know when there's a new ROM build out no? good point! Ah yes, but how clean is clean? My clean is not your clean etc. etc., hehe. lol... true...
Guest us1111 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) Hmm.. I'm getting a "cFile.Open failed" error when i press start.. Scared the s*** out of me  but I still can boot the old rom... What does WTFH mean by the way? Edited October 20, 2008 by us1111
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Flashed it OK myself... everyone else OK? P

Guest 1Mack Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Just going off at a slight tangent...is there a way to stop Shozu loading at boot? I've looked in Memmaid for it's start up item but don't recognize it. I have SK Tools and I went to disable it in the start up but it was not allowed so I went to the launch sequence and deleted the string in launch item 140 and it is done. go to HKLM\init\ and delete the string for launch 140 and you will be good to go
Guest Deroo Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Flashed it OK myself... everyone else OK? P Everything Fine Here.
Guest GSeeker2 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Flashed it OK myself... everyone else OK? P downloading~ :D thanks Paul! btw, my Omnia was quite good on your last rom(HJ1 custom), but somehow it can't sleep. i mean the screen are dim after 1 minute, but the device won't turn off itself after 2 minutes, the screen are still on. Only hard-reset could get it back to normal. Power settings: Turn off backlight: 1 minute Turn off device: 2 mintues I don't know if it was a bug, but i only have this problem on your custom rom. Anyway, much appreciate all your work!
Guest teixeira.vh Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Wow!! Nice work Paul! Maybe i'll wait for version 2. Cumps, teixeira.vh
Guest Massive Attack Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 what does the word "Optimised" mean when you said "Optimised Samsung applications" and whar are thess applications? im just wondering if i can apply this optimization without flashing the custom rom.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 No, their size is optimised in ROM, so it's not relevant as something to do afterwards. P
Guest jeffrey2000 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Is the "touch player" issue solved in this release?
Guest GSeeker2 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 flash done! All things seem well. *a bit faster than the original HJ5 *much bigger free Storage *Shozu is gone will report back if any bug found.

That said, this new ROM seems to have a lot more storage space than HJ1 (88MB total storage memory on mine vs. 105 per Paul's post). Like FutureDirt, I would prefer to have more space to install apps - I actually managed to fill up my storage memory rather quickly. This looks fantastic! Thanks Paul! Edited October 20, 2008 by TOG9
