Guest jinx_uk_98 Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Hi guys, So I got a brand new Omnia out of the box today and it seems the accelerometer doesn't work. I haven't flashed anything or uploaded anything. I understood that when receiving a call if I tunr the phone over it would go on silent or when looking at a picture it would rotate. Do i need to update ir enable something? I read about a power option but I cant find it.

Guest doozer Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Nice one, cheers mate. It really annoys me that these aren't activated by default. My accelerometer stopped working last night about 48 hours after I got the phone. I checked that it was switched on (it was) and I tried turning it on and off several times all to no avail. This morning I plugged the phone into the USB to charge it and 10 minutes later the screen is rotating again. I don't know but I currently suspect that the accelerometer is affected by the cold. It's currently <<10 deg C in my house (no heating). I think when I plugged the USB in to charge it the warmth from charging was enough to bring he accelerometer back to life. Could anyone confirm this?
Guest Hydroxpert Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 that is kinda cold to operate a phone...isn't it? i live in singapore which is quite sunny so yeah no freezing or condensation occurs on the phone mostly...

Guest nollie Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Problem with my accelerometer: I have auto-orientation set, but noticed every one in a while it just refuses to rotate (tried shaking phone, etc.) which I find kind of strange. Soft resetting seems to fix the problem temporarily though.
Guest AngelAnn Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) the first time when i've noticed that motion sensor doesn't work was when my battery status was about 20-30 %, i decided to charge battery, and it seemed to me that bug was fixed, but it came back. I tried to do soft reset, it helped BUT only till the first time i turned off the screen B) Edited December 9, 2008 by AngelAnn
Guest AngelAnn Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) GUYS!!! I've solved the problem! To think logical, the motion sensor takes a lot of battery power. If u turn of all power-saving settings in Windows ->Settings -> System -> Battery, it would begin to work even without soft reset!! B) Edited December 9, 2008 by AngelAnn
