Terrible photo quality

Hello,

I bought my Omnia 2 weeks ago and one of the main reasons to buy this cellphone was the excellent photo quality I saw in reviews. When I received my Omnia I was shocked by the terrible quality.

Now I understand it's still a phone, but when I see other people take pictures with theirs it is so much better.

I have tested nearly all settings, but I only had small improvements so far. I added a photo I took from a friend in a well-lit pub, this is one of the better photo's I was able to take.

My PDA rom is XKHH1, I believe it's the Benelux version. Can it be that this rom version is responsable for the terrible photo quality? Or is there something wrong with my cellphone?

well, indoor photos with poor light conditions usually are bad

but no doubt my ex-n95 for exemple had better quality than this

naaa...this is a photo without flash and maybe with antishake ON..

active flash...antishake ON prodice more noise but better quality on the night

I prefer in the night flash on + antishake on e after in opc remove noise with neatimage

The sensor is very noisy, even on a bright day using landscape mode, the blue sky is full of noise.

If you have tried all the settings then you should probably take it back and have it exchanged.

I also see this problem since i flashed to DXHI5. In a german forum, someone wrote that he got a hint from Samsung, that a full reset with *2767*3855# might be helpful. So some people tried this - and (unbelievable): it seems to help! But you will loose all your configuration! The other thing is, if you make a backup and restore after the full reset then maybe you also restore the bad camera settings.

Just a clarification - entering the code WILL result in a hard reset AND My Storage will be deleted. So backup whatever you have on there before doing the codes.

The light metering is bad, usually set to to high ISO.

To improve the photo quality, I just let the ISO always at 50.

I noticed with my firmware H3, the preview image on screen before taking the photo looks good. However after snapping the photo looks 'washed out', lacks contrast and saturation. It is an annoyance and I always find myself wishing to just do a screen capture of the preview image if that is possible.

Am hoping it's a firmware issue...
