Guest lastnikita Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) anyone managed to run skyfire on omnia ? tested on 2 rom, it just crashed on startup for me (after splash), no chance to see the UI  Edited October 22, 2008 by lastnikita
Guest nollie Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 I have heard many positive things regarding Skyfire being the 'fastest' browser, however I also have the saem crash at start-up problem which is unfortunate. Isn't Mozilla releasing an optimised phone-based firefox or something in the coming weeks/months?

SkyFire is fast because it gets all its content through skyfires servers which "changes and compresses" the content prior to sending it on to your phone. You can also use Opera Mini , which is a java web browser which is operated in kind of the same way where the content is compressed first on Operas servers and sent on to the Opra Mini browser which makes it very fast. Opera Mini is not comparable with Opera Mobile functionality wise, but its blazing fast.
Guest markym Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 I've switched from Opera Mobile and I'm now using Opera Mini. It does everything I need and I find it much faster. If you want to try it I'd recommend this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398567 Download the CAB file and you can then install Opera Mini 4.1 anywhere on your Omnia. It also does away with the annoying security questions you normally get with Mini. I've installed mine on the SD card and mapped it to one of the hard buttons. One press and I'm on the net, it's literally that quick.
Guest nollie Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Giving Iris a go now. It's very speedy for me and I do like the interface. Doesn't look as good as Opera Mobile's but I do think it's faster.
