How to convert PIE Favorites (Bookmarks) to Opera Mobile

Hello,

there is an easy way to get your PIE Favorites converted to Opera Mobile without the need of having Opera on your PC.

Not everyone has Opera installed as Windows Browser on the PC, as Firefox is much more popular on the PC.

So why just installing Opera for converting your PIE Favorites (Bookmarks) to Opera mobile ?

There is an easier way of doing that:

1. Download the free Bookmark Converter from http://www.magnusbrading.com/bmc and install it on your PC.

2. Connect your Omnia to the PC via ActiveSync

3. Copy all your PIE Favorites (Bookmarks) - it's usually \Windows\Favorites incl. all the subdirectories - to a local directory of your PC

4. Start the Bookmark Converter on your PC and select as Bookmark Source "Internet Explorer favorites", then select the directory on your PC to which you copied your PIE Favorites; point to \Favorites

5. Select as target "Opera Bookmarks"

6. Click on "Browse", select your output path and chose "Opera 6/7" as file format.

7. Now click on "Convert", all your PIE Favorites (Bookmarks) will be converted to a file named Opera6.adr

8. Do not change the name of this file. You are not yet finished but almost.

9. Now open the file "Opera6.adr" with a file editor like UltraEdit

10. Search and replace all = characters by == (with the exception of the = in the second line: ... = utf8)

11. Save your changes

12. Now copy the file "Opera6.adr" to your Omnia into the directory where Opera expects its Favorites (Bookmarks); usually \Application Data

Now you are complete !

Your Opera mobile should now give access to all your Favorites from the PIE, preserving also the hierarchies (subdirectories).
