Guest kenny_mbr049 Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Hi, I have been given a few SPV E650 to setup onto exchange 2003 sbs using active sync over g3 and im completely stuck! I have ruled it down to when setting it up to the exchange 2003 ip address in iexplorer it pops up with the certificate error that these phones cannot get around. Does anyone have any advice? I have been told to go to godaddy and buy a certificate and import it to 2k3 sbs? Will this work? Any help would be appriecated! Thanks, Ken
Guest furby Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 Welcome to MoDaCo  g3? Guess you mean GPRS (no 3G on the E650) What do you mean when you say when setting it up to the exchange 2003 ip address in iexplorer? Are you using the Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync Web Administration Tool ? Are you setting up the device on the phone itself or in Activesync connected to a pc? To avoid certificate issues, try just unticking the "connect using SSL" on the device. I forget where exactly it is in the menus but if you can't find it post back. I not to long ago setup my e650 on sbs 2003 exchange sp2 so hopefully I/we can help you do the same.

I have also tried the admin tool with no luck but am unsure if i need to restart the server first before using it. I have tried without ssl but the e650 still doesnt connect. Even using activesync with a usb cable refuses to connect to the exchange server! Thanks for your help

You shouldn't need to restart the server when adding the device. What OS have you got on the device 6 or 6.1? Setting it up on a workstation within activesync itself (via usb) should be the most reliable method. What error message are you getting? I'd normally take a guess at where the problem is but it will be easier when I have both devices infront of me. Have you looked through the Technet Deploying guide? it's 18 pages long but some of the steps are optional.
