Guest gravityz Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) i know al about the bugs with tomtom, gpsgate, portsplitter etc etc on my device it sometimes works without any additional programs and sometimes not this is what most people are experiencing a lot of people have it covered with either portsplitter or gpsgate. i however can not get it working EVERYTIME. so i did some testing i use visualgpsCE to check if data is coming in. if i put hardware port on COM3 and programport on COM9 baud:9600 i can select com3 from visualgpsce and see all the sattelites this screen is moving so the data is actualy coming in and the satellites are still grey because there is no fix then i startup portsplitter:input com3 output com8 9600 baud again in visualgpsce i select com8(portslitter) and i see axactly the same realtime data so portsplitter is working to. now i startup tomtom(either repack2, repack3 or 9033) it does not make a difference if i select com3 or com8 outcome is the same:Static screen with maybee a couple of satellites BUT THIS SCREEN IS NOT REALITY it looks like it takes a cached setting(or a point in time) and displays that, yellow circle is moving so i have connection. now it gets interesting i went back to visualgpsce and waited before i noticed blue satellites(EG there is a fix) after i got a fix i started up tomtom again guess what, instant REALTIME sattelite data with blue color changed the comport to com3 and again instant REALTIME sattelite data with blue color so the problem with tomtom and gps is not that data does not get through ok also it does not need to be translated by using gpsgate or portsplitter tomtom completely ignores al satellite date unless it receives data that there is a fix. after this moment it uses and displays the realtime data. so al this time we were thinking that data was not coming thruogh because the satellite data was not moving or was static. now you know the truth(at least for my device) hopefully tomtom will make a fix for tomtom7 once it hit's the sales department. another question does anybody knows what the default com setting is for the buildin gps setting tomtom is using if we know that we can change the programport on the phone and simply select tmotom interal gps tomtomguru's out there please fix this Edited October 23, 2008 by gravityz
Guest djschumi Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 I don't know what kind of problems you manage to get but a couple of days ago I sucessfully installed TomTom 7 on my colleage's Omnia. It's working 100% ok. Installed and cracked it and that was about everything I did. No bullshit with port managment etc.
Guest gravityz Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 did you try it the next day problem is like is said when you have agps on with download activated through a data connection and you have a fix you will hardly notice anythingthings get interesting without data connection and without a fix. a lot of people just want tomtom to work but do not want to pay for data access I don't know what kind of problems you manage to get but a couple of days ago I sucessfully installed TomTom 7 on my colleage's Omnia. It's working 100% ok. Installed and cracked it and that was about everything I did. No bullshit with port managment etc.
Guest Geronymous Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) Damn, this looks very promising... but unfortunately I am not able to replicate it... I understand the idea (TomTom needs a fix), and I also used VisualGPSce, but it does not work for me  Can you please repeat the exact settings you are using for: - External GPS (WM splitter) - Enhanced GPS (for the XTRA data) - VisualGPSce (I have v1.2 106) - TT7 (I am testing version 7.450 (9030)) - other relevant settings? Thanks in advance! Edited October 23, 2008 by Geronymous
Guest gravityz Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 - External GPS (WM splitter) programport com3: hardwareport com9: baud 9600 gps automatic - Enhanced GPS (for the XTRA data) XTRA enable, automatic disable - VisualGPSce (I have v1.2 106) V1.00.3 - TT7 (I am testing version 7.450 (9030)) 7.450.9028 repack 2, repack 3 and 7.451.9033(al the same result) - other relevant settings? it is necesarry that you at least use the Xtra setting once(eg use gprs to sdownload the data) i did it a day ago nut if i disable XTRA it will not work ever. after this i am not downloading any XTRA data anymore first get some data in with visual gpsce(this can take a while if you havesoft reset the device after you see data comping in on port com3 ,switch to com8 to see if the same data is there. wait for a fix and then turn on tomtom and choose either com3 or com8 under other gps. especially when you have reset the device it will take a long time to get any data in because these gps modules were made to get help from a data file.
