Guest kordi Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 overclocking a omnia ? do you know that in omnia is already the fastest processor what is for mobiles available and its still to slow buy an pc whit a phone function With the rom I got originally it's 3 times slower than my HTC prophet wit omap 200 Mhz ....
Guest new2city Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 With the rom I got originally it's 3 times slower than my HTC prophet wit omap 200 Mhz .... XCPUSCALAR does overclock the Omnia but unfortunately, we can't really control the exact clock value. For me, it just over clocks at a unknown speed and heats up. Any other opinions?

It is my understanding that Marvell Xscale processors would only allow you to overclock them if you cut one of their pins, which of course would void warrenty... It's a Speedstep processor - you can't raise the maximum clockspeed, but you can raise the minimum level(s) depending on workload. This makes the device respond more quickly, but also increases the battery drain and heat dissipation. I can play music over stereo bluetooth while running TomTom navigator, all without a glitch. I'm pretty happy with the speed of this device!
Guest Pille69 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 With the rom I got originally it's 3 times slower than my HTC prophet wit omap 200 Mhz .... i had a htc touch before and the omnia runs like a young god against htc i can open many programs playing sound game internet and all to the same time try another rom
Guest kordi Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 (edited) i had a htc touch before and the omnia runs like a young god against htc i can open many programs playing sound game internet and all to the same time try another rom I have HTC prophet with Omap 200 mHz and clear rom and Battery status overclocking and Omnia runs like 80 year old grandpa in comparison to my prophet. BTW. HTC touch has the same chipset as prophet .... Edited October 24, 2008 by kordi
Guest rodrigorajao Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 I overclocked a WinMo device with a similar CPU (ipaq hx4700 - Intel Xscale @ 624 MHz) using a software whose name I can't remember now. All I can say is that, unlike a PC, the disadvantages of OC'ing a WinMo device far outweigh the the benefits. Pro: Apps open and close faster, no menu delays... wow! Cons: System becomes unstable, freezes, soft resets are necessary more often, excessive heat, shorter battery life (dunno if it's permanent).
Guest samjuan Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Now that we know T*Omnia has the same processor as our Omnia, but with 806MH speed, is there still a chance to overclock our Omnia! just to try and see what happens?
Guest lambi1982 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 T*omnia does NOT have the same proccessor as the omnia. T*omnia runs faster because it has a better proccesor PXA320 which runs at 800+ MHz and the omnia has the PXA312 which has a max of 624MHz. Google people, it is our friend.

Thanks for your infinite wisdom in pointing out google, I didn't know that...
Guest choihyun Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 so xcpuscalar is not recomended right?

Guest brickbeats Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 ive been using xcpuscalar for at least 4 months now with only minor glitches and no long term probs. it makes a night and day difference in speed for the Omnia. even higher video bitrates when recording video
Guest thescope Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 brickbeats , what were the settings you used? I tried in once on a 6. ROM and it messed my phone up so I never used it since. Are you runing a 6.5 ROM?
Guest brickbeats Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) necosino's first 6.5 rom. ive got it on autoscale and i also have sk tools performance optimization. my phone is almost as fast as my buddies iphony Edited January 26, 2010 by brickbeats
Guest brickbeats Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 ps - i get a 334 score on the benchmark
