Guest lazzas Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Hi All, I have tried to download and install some of the applications recommended on this site and I have discoverd that many of the files come up with a message saying "that this is not a valid pocket PC application". Some are zip files and I have tried to unzip them first on my desktop prior to downloading the .exe file. In either case, it still comes back with the same error message. Any suggestions would be helpful. Oh, by the way, it's a new Vodafone Omnia with XXHHD/ACHH3, and BUHH2. Thanks!

Sounds like these programs need running through activesync it comes on the disk with the omnia.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 If you are already transferring the files across from the PC to the phone then presumably you already have Activesync or Device Center (for Vista pc's). Are you sure the files are .zip and not .cab? as they can look the same, .cab files are installed on the device and do not need to be extracted first. Otherwise as jp514 mentions some exe files are designed to be be installed via the pc and Activesync or Device manager, there are a few applications that have an exe designed to be run on the device but it sounds like you do not have one of these.
