Guest somedude Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 (edited) Okay, i am using the vmware virtual machine with windows xp. I installed the samsung modemn xp drivers. I am able to connect to activesync. I start up the i900DXHH1 v1.5.2 downloader and reset the phone(i leave the data cable plugged in) And when windows mobile loads, i get the following error: "NO PDA Device Found...close device" I searched the board for this error and found a post or two about it, but the solutions didnt work for me. What can i do? Anyone out there please help. Edited October 24, 2008 by somedude
Guest sector Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 You shouldnt reset. Switch off the phone and then switch on. Hard reset the phone before flash it is better. Please consider that using vmware might conflict when the flashing process switches between phone usb and u can brick ur phone. Advisable to do it not in a virtual machine but regular xp installation.
Guest somedude Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 is there anyone who successfully flashed using a virtual machine. im not going to install windows xp on my pc.
Guest darth maximus Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 (edited) I'm also a mac user and i don't recommend using a vm. reason being, the usb connection isn't as stable, tried in both fusion and parallels. maybe better to use bootcamp. i use my wife's xp laptop for my rom flashing. now i am more comfortable not using vm to flash since it poses a risk of bricking my phones. Guest somedude Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 i think im just going to try it on vista. it should still work right?
Guest darth maximus Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 download and install the vista drivers first.
Guest sector Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 even the vista have problems... i have vista and i use my xp laptop for flashing. many users reported bricks on vista
Guest somedude Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 has anyone else had this problem? i cant be the only one.

Thanks Many people don't understand what swich off the phone means and they just push the power buton to turn off the phone and push again to start the phone and they have the "device not found" . You guys have to shut down the phone press the power button for few seconds and you see the boot screen and after that the phone is off. Press again few seconds the power button and when the boot screen coming on press the start in the loader. Do not wait until the phone is on again. Then watch the progress bar and let the phone alone until is start by himself.

To Overseas 6, are you using the usb data cable that came with the omnia or are you using a generic one?

To Overseas 6, are you using the usb data cable that came with the omnia or are you using a generic one? I am using original usb from the box. I read your other posts and I see now you got a realy frustrating problem. What ROM you try to put in? did you try with different one ? Did you try to download again the ROM maybe some files are missing during the download I don't know but sometimes it hapened to be somethin with the downloads. You say in the other posts your active synch see your device but the loader don't is realy strange.Did you check if you have in C:\Program Files\SAMSUNG\SAMSUNG CDMA Modem all the files try to uninstal and install agin the drver. I realy don't know what to say at this point maybe somebody smarter can come out with a solution. Look here they come out with new official ROM try this I all ways chose Singapore and is working. Give a try. http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/index.jsp Edited October 31, 2008 by georo

Guest skullster Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 From Overseas 6 I am using the data cable that came with the Omnia. It is frustrating as I have been unable to update also. For VMware issues please look at http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-r...irtual-machine/ we are trying to come up with a definitive how to for VMware as many of us have successfully used VMware and flashed many time.
Guest somedude Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) I just got the omnia usb cable today and I am still getting the 'No Pda Device Found' error. However, at least i was able to upgrade using the rom from samsungs site. I am throwing in the towel. There is only so much i can take. For two weeks ive went through hell and back to try to get this to work. It just doesnt seem worth it anymore. Edited November 6, 2008 by somedude
Guest somedude Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 UPDATE: I was finally able to install the rom. I had to use a laptop with xp on it, VMWare just wasnt working for me. So my advice to anyone who receives this error is to use a machine with a xp operating system already on it for best results.
Guest typhoon24 Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Hi! I'm also experiencing the same problem in updating my ROM. :( My Omnia has the following version details: PDA: i900DXHG3/DXHG3 PHONE: i900DXHG3 It would be the first time that I'm going to update my phone's firmware that's why I tried to download the update(DXIA5) from the samsung website. I didn't have any problems with the ROM version (primarily because my update came from the samsung website, and also because my phone is already set to PHILIPPINES by default). My only problem with the update that I downloaded was that after the program reset the phone, it does not proceed in downloading/updating the ROM. The phone starts and loads up to WinMo without notifying the updater that the phone has already restarted. I tried using other ROM versions (DXHH1, DXHJ1, DXHH3) and with those version of updaters, i get the "no PDA Device found" message once the omnia logo shows up. I already tried this on two PCs now, both running on Windows XP SP3. The first one is a desktop pc with Windows XP Home, and the second is a laptop with Windows XP Professional. Both have ActiveSynch 4.5 and "SAMSUNG CDMA Modem" (for XP) installed. I also tried updating with the firewall and antivirus off, but it still did not work. :( I'm really excited after finding out that there are new updates on the omnia firmware. I'm just so disappointed that I can't put them on my phone. I really hope you guys can help me. Thanks in advance! B)

An alert message appeared from the updater saying that I already have the latest firmware, but my firmware is still in HG3. :-S

B) I can't afford to reinstall the OS in my laptop (i use it for work :( ). Anyway, You have a point, either the problem would be Windows or my antivirus. I'll probably look for another PC that I could use for updating my phone's firmware. thanks so much for the help. :( I'll inform you guys if discover anything that would solve my problem. :(
Guest typhoon24 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Hi everyone! I was finally able to update my phone's firmware to DXIA5. Here are the details: - My old firmware was DXHG3. It's the first time that I'm going to update my phone's (i900 Omnia) firmware. - I downloaded DXIA5 from the Samsung website. My phone is already in Philippines by default, so using a DX*** firmware would not be a problem. (See other threads if you get version problems). - The pc that I use to update my phone is running on Windows XP service pack 3 with ActiveSynch 4.5 and the Samsung CDMA modem drivers installed. Problem: - Using the DXIA5 updater, the updater resets the phone but does not proceed in updating the firmware. The program is stuck waiting to be notified if the phone has already started. The phone loads up without notifying the program. The updater program doesnt know if the phone is already available even if ActiveSync has connected to the phone. - Using other updaters for DXHH1 and DXHH3, a messages saying "No PDA Device Found... Close Device" are displayed while the phone is starting. Here's what I did: - I turned off the firewall. I turned off my pc's firewall at the antivirus program. - I turned off the "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing" Windows service. (I thought the antivirus program's firewall is enough, this windows service should also be terminated). - I terminated a process called CTSynchU.exe at the Task Manager. (I'm not sure what this is for, but the update program only worked when I removed this process from the task manager.) I hope this helps everyone who is currently experiencing the problem that I had. B) To those who replied to my earlier posts, thanks so much for the help.
Guest uk_dan2k Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 i'm having the same problem, but i'm running windows 7, do i have to run vm or can i use the properties setting on the .exe to set compatability to windows xp sp3 ? tried used regedit to set the pda version to a different version too. :D
