I still have this problem! B)

I don't know what to do, I cannot access any application installed on the "My Storage", file explorer doesn't show it as well, and in "Hard Reset" it shows as "Dismounted", if I go to USB connection mode and choose "Mass storage" -> "My Storage" and click ok, the message box "Mass Storage is unavailable, check if the storage card is inserted" appears... I have to soft reset the device to get it back on, I had this problem since the first day I got the phone, and now I am on J1, officially from the crevice center!!!

I took it to the service center three times so far with no resolution, it is still under warranty but every time I took it they say it has been resolved, and then it comes back again!!!, I talked to Samsung head office themselves, and they are saying send it back to the service center "AGAIN!".

I am so furious at them, I don't know who to call or what to do as they do not appreciate there customers. I feel I want to send a big letter of complain to the president of SAMSUNG Gulf himself, or anyone from the head office in Korea but I do not know how to reach them.

Can any helpful sole here help me out and guide me on what to do? I demanded, shouted, stayed on hold, been extra friendly etc... with no use!

this is the ONLY thing wrong with my Omnia, living with it has been a living hell and I cannot take it any more.

Hi  So my problem with the dismounted My storage was this - When Samsung Bulgaria changed my motherboard, because I`ve bricked it, they forgot to put, on the back of the new motherboard, something like a chip (or something like that) that in fact is the memory of the phone. So despite changing the motherboard, everything I had stored in My Storage, before the bricking, was there. So you should go to a service to open the phone and chek if the thing I called "a chip" is there or maybe it is in the phone but it was disconected. I hope this will help you. In fact I will copy this message into the forum.

I had this problem, what i had to do is go to start -> settings -> Connections -> USB Connection Mode -> change it to "Mass Storage", plug the phone into the computer. You will see all of the drives show up, basically this setting removes all of the activesync stuff, so it appears as a mass storage device. You then format the internal storage by right clicking on it -> Format. once that's done, unplug and change that setting back. You can now use your 8GB internal storage.

i dont know if this helps in this situation, but if u open task manager, and selest menu-vew-processes, then at the bottom of the list, u can see a process called storage detector.exe

i think this might be playing a role in the storage being dismounted. check if it is loaded and working if u see the storage dismounted. if its not there, then i think the issue of not seeing the storage might be a software problem at the end, maybe not hardware??!!

Hi, i got exactly the same problem. Here is what happened to me.

I am using windows media player before i go to sleep, then my i900 turned off because my battery was empty. Then i charged my phone and booom! my internal memory is dismounted.

Have you fixed yours?

However, when i tried the usb connection mode to "Mass Storage" it is accessing my SD micro card which is 8gb and not my 16gb internal memory.

like i mentioned before,, check if this process is running when u have the storage dismounted. -> storage detector.exe

u can check it in task manager under processes or try using sktools.

if in the case where the storage is dismounted and the process is not running, try going in the windows folder and find this executable and run it and try to see is this helps in any way.

not using the safely remove hardware option in vista also causes the storage to be dismounted, then SR is required for the storage to be visible in file explorer.

i think it is mass storage detector.exe.

then i was wrong abt this file, maybe this is not the issue here. but i am almost certain that it has to do with software problems, not hardware as HR resolves the issue momentarily

that might be a solution, since HR resolves the problem momentarily, flashing to a new rom would probably resolve this issue.

but the truth i personally dont believe so, because there are many other people using the same roms as u guys are, but they dont have this issue.

just write an email to samsung if u are using an official rom, just to see what they say.. ( i'm guessing problably just take the s*** to a service center)

anyway flashing to a new rom is worth a try, nothing to lose anyway.. :)
