Guest alinez Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 I did some testing trying to build a tv-out cable for this phone, as I coudnt find it for sale anywhere... There is the U900 tv out cable for sale that fits our omina, but I m not sure if the resolution is the same. I noticed that my cable doesnt have a good quality image on the TV screen, I dont know if its cause my cable doesnt have a small circuit board attached to it or if the quality from the phone is that way. It's not an easy thing to do as the connectors are so small and the 20 pin so next to eachother... Well, I based this on this pinout drawing: And managed to add a plit cable for wall or car charging  (So you can watch moovies on tv and charge your device) So, that's what you need: - One i900 data cable (like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Data-Cable-Cord-fo...d=p3286.c0.m14) - Any samsung tv out cable. it must be a generic one, so that you can open the contacts head and close it back without damaging it (like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OEM-Samsung-D800-D...d=p3286.c0.m14) - A car charger or a wall charger (for wall charger, any with output 5v) - A small 180 kohm resistor (a ceramic one) - Tools for welding, very thin soldering iron, pliers, tweezers, volt measuring device (digital one is better), tape, small and very thin wires (well, you can use the ones that comes with the data cable...) Get the data cable, open the contacts head (you have to put something like a small screwdriver into its holes to get it opened). You will se that the conctacs has 20 places to put 20 pins on it. Do not take off the already welded wires from the pin, instead, take pins out (with wires) - you won't need to weld those wires again :D So, when you removed the pins (blades) out of the connector, you will noticed that you could bend some of them.. they are so thin and delicate. It doesnt matter, you can unbend them by passing something like a screwdriver over it. They are made of two tipes, one type has the little leg for welding purpose faced to one side, and the other has this leg faced to the other side, thats because when you put them inside the connector, they can be more distant to each other, avoiding a short circuit. so, pay attention when to dispose the blades (pins) into the connector (note that the "head" of the pin is aways faced down). You can cut the data cable at a reasonable lenght, so that you have space to work on it. pay attention to the pin numbers. 1 to 20 in this order: Finding what is what on the video cable: You will have to cut off the connector from the video cable you got. There you'll have 6 wires: 2 audio, 1 video, 1 video ground, 2 audio ground. But, you wont know what wire is connected to the video for example. Generaly, the black wire is ground, the red wire is 5V, the green wire is video, the blue one is audio. But not all the cables follow the same colors... That's why you need the volt measuring device. The two audio wires will measure something about 1,66 V and the video wire will measure something like 1,34 V. The other 3 cables are ground and can be put together with the ground wire from the charger. Welding all wires: you'll handle 8 wires and use 10 pins in your connector. Now that you have already identified the wires, we can start to weld them to the wires you got from the data cable. The 5 V wire (from the charger) has to be welded to a double blade (you may find one double pin already welded from the data cable), if not, just weld the 5V wire to 2 blades together. (you will have to put those 2 blades into the pin n. 19 and pin n. 20) Its better to weld all the blades to the wires outside the connector, so that you wont burn the connector plastic. The 4 ground wires (1 video, 2 audio, 1 charger) have to be welded to a single blade. So, its better to weld them first to a single wire and then weld the wire to a blade. The video cable must be welded to one blade. The audio cables must be welded to one blade each. The resistor must be welded to one blade on a side and to a wire and a blade on the other side. This wire will make a bridge to the ground wires. Thats the order you'll put all the blades inside the connector: Pin number 1 = empty Pin number 2 = all those ground wires together Pin number 3 = empty Pin number 4 = empty Pin number 5 = audio wire Pin number 6 = empty Pin number 7 = the other audio wire Pin number 8 = empty Pin number 9 = bridge from the ground wires and one side of the resistor Pin number 10 = the other side of the resistor Pin number 11 = Video wire Pin number 12 = empty Pin number 13 = empty Pin number 14 = empty Pin number 15 = empty Pin number 16 = empty Pin number 17 = empty Pin number 18 = empty Pin number 19 = one blade from the charger 5V Pin number 20 = other blade from the charger 5V So, one you have put all those blades into the pins, you have to tape al the weldings, so they wont cause any short circuit. You can test it already, plug on the tv and see if it works. (you dont have to use the tv-out file, it will be still showing the "you must have a cable bla bla bla), but everything is showed on TV. If you dont want to add a split charger cable, just leave the pin number 19 and 20 empty. I hope you'll enjoy it ;)
Guest lufeig Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 great guide, allinez! i am sure the i900 community appreciate your work, but i think you should give some credit to Kacapet from 4pda.ru russian forum. Kacapet originally wrote (Oct 5th, 2008) the guide on which yours is based, and even the pictures and schemactic used here were made by him, so in my honest opinion it wouldn't be fair not giving him the credits he deserves. anyway, only a few users can read russian or are used to translation services, so your guide will be very useful. good work!
Guest chokia Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Oh you are great now we can have this

Guest Geronymous Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 (edited) Dont see a charger on this cable. This cable is quite a discovery... if it works as it says on the description! The picture gives indeed the impression that charging is not possible, but you never know... The only thing I can think of is that you may be able to plug in a mini-USB cable in one of the "boxes" visible... that would be a pretty smart way of doing it! I have asked for confirmation to the seller... I wonder if I will get a reply... If this cable can charge I am ordering it right away! Great catch Kuteguy! Edited December 31, 2008 by Geronymous
Guest bobobird Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Dont trust any claims - I once bought a cable from a shop which was clearly labelled that it was capable of usb charging the phone - it turned out to be just a normal ss cable.

Guest Geronymous Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 TV Cable usb charging capable! What about this? YES!!! This is the same cable according the description and the main picture, but here you see on the additional detail picture that it works exactly as I thought! The miniUSB is in the "box", next to the 3.5mm audio jack... perfect! I am ordering (at the other site... cheaper :) ) ... will report out when I get it.
