Danish update - can no longer swap SIMs!!!!!!!

Dear all,

I, like many others, took the leap of faith and implemented the Danish update on my phone having followed DJHope's posting on backing up to SD card (thanks for this Mr. Hope) see here - http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=2628.

To my dismay I then discovered that I can

no longer use the change SIM card trick

where you remove the battery whilst the phone is plugged in, which kinda screws this up for me as I use a Vodafone card (business line) during the daytime.

Just wanted to let everyone know who might do this, and I believe that it might be worth making this sticky for a week or so to ensure that nobody else finds themselves in the same position I am now in.

If anyone knows of a solution, please let me know...

What goes wrong? I don't actually use the SIM card swap, but if worst comes to worst, you can always do a hard reset.

Not if you've applied the update...

hmm not a biggie really as most spv users will have a contract orange sim (in the uk that is) i never used this trick other than to test if it worked............still waiting for the official update from the lazy buggers orange ;)

I used the trick for 3 weeks and it works a treat when I go home for a holiday. I use an international SIM. So I just MAY BE v. F****D OFF when I can no longer use the thing. Though by the time I go home next time O just may give me my unblock code - or better still someone will find a permanent solution.. Bad stuff though..

I reported this a couple of days ago. I also updated my SPV (and am actually danish) and found out that the SIM swap isnt working anymore. When trying to swap it goes to "No service" at once.

Luckily I had my backup on my SD card and restored the whole thing back to the phone and now the swap is working again.. but without the update...

I initially created a full backup as this was the one thing that I needed to test before I could be sure that the Danish update was a good idea, but foolishly left the card in after recopying the IPSM after update (Ooooops! ).

When the phone rebooted I was impatient to unlock it and had my finger on the left soft key which I pressed before reading the screen - therefore formatting the SD card!

So I'm screwed for now and will probably end up carrying round a second phone during the day for work. I will search for the code on the web and also plead with Orange as they have nothing to lose here because either way I will use my business Vodafone SIM during the day...

aGeS + Madukranian - I'll post a solution here if I find one

There does excist at program that can operator unlock the SPV. Only 1 person got it and it's very expensive to buy as he (for now) only is willing to sell the complete rights to the program and not a copy of it.

I also heard someone talk about that it should be possible to patch the simlock.exe file and this way trick the phone to accept another SIM card but I don't know if that patching thing is true.

If you find a solution I'd very much like to hear about it!!

I'm afraid that I'm having no joy with the searches at the moment (also trying in French, but no joy there either).

I'm kinda hoping that the possibility of editing the specific file that causes this will be explored by someone who has a clue what they're doing (i.e. not me!).

I guess that the answer is to find the file that causes the lock and replace it with the previous version from pre-update - any ideas?

Seems that the simlock.exe file is locked down to the ROM somehow. I can see it with ALL-explorer but can't copy it or change attributes for it. I tried running the file and it sent me to the homescreen and looked for the network. This could be the file to play with for sure.
