How to unlock registry on SMT5800..?

Okay, so I've had many a smartphones and touch screen PPC phones, and I've always done tweaks to speed em up (glyphcache, etc..)

This is the first time I've ever had a device simply not take the change... I make the change it gives the good ol' "this change could cause issues, blah blah blah, do you want to save it anyway" saying yes (or no, lol) has no effect, it reverts back instantly...

So, to my question... I know this phone needed to be app unlocked, that was easy... Is there a registry unlock required as well, that I'm missing??
