Guest smoothcrooner Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Does anyone think that the iPlayer will work on the i900 since it has WMV?
Guest Neil5459 Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Does anyone think that the iPlayer will work on the i900 since it has WMV? iPlayer uses a special version of RealPlayer, and it is not yet compatible with any WM devices.
Guest SheepWorrier Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 iPlayer uses a special version of RealPlayer, and it is not yet compatible with any WM devices. There's an article here which advises that one can use iPlayer through an HTC device by pretending to be an Omnia, but I couldn't get it to work... http://www.coolsmartphone.com/news4440.html

Guest SheepWorrier Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Nice one SheepWorrier, I've got iPlayer on my Omnia now, wow. Glad I could help - may I ask how you got it to work? My Custom User-Agent field was blank and I've tried setting it to sgh-i900 (and HTC_P3700 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)sgh-i900 from another forum), but still not working for me... Which ROM are you using?

Guest Clos Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 It is possible to watch the BBC's live tv streams on the omnia. www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/live/tv. I've only tried it with wifi and it probably will only work in the uk.
Guest Shadowy Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Iplayer requires ASPlayer which I didn't have as I'm using M2D04. I installed Paul's HH version, but when I try to watch anything, ASPlayer opens then immediately closes. Anyone have any idea what's wrong? Thanks.
Guest bluey09 Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Hi , I used following settings in Custom User-Agent field to make it work on my Omnia : HTC_P3700 Opera/9.50 Windows NT 5.1; U; en sgh-i900 Worked for me ... Thanks
Guest Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Not sure this is any help but I didn't need to make any changes at all to my Omnia and was able to use the BBC iPlayer. I just went tot heir website (bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer) and it opened the stream in the Streaming Player application that originally came with the Omnia. I'm running the Vodafone branded Firmware (ACHH3)

Guest 3shirts Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Thanks. Well it sort of works but like Shadowy it opens then immediately closes when I click play on iplayer, is that installer a full standalone version of asplayer or would we (users of the manilla rom) need something else?

PaSSoa took ASP out in MD04. Maybe he could put it back in in MD05 ( after the wedding?).
Guest 3shirts Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 PaSSoa took ASP out in MD04. Maybe he could put it back in in MD05 ( after the wedding?). I don't mind it being out if there was another way to stream from iPlayer. I use corelayer but I can't find a way to make iplayer use that
Guest Shadowy Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I don't mind it being out if there was another way to stream from iPlayer. I use corelayer but I can't find a way to make iplayer use that I've tried that too, I can't see any setting which tells Opera to use asplayer so I don't see why it's trying to open it. I wonder if there's a link to it which PassoA didn't take out.
Guest 3shirts Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 (edited) Something of a development: I found that in the file \Application Data\Opera9 there is a file called opera.ini which has links to \windows\asplayer.exe I changed all of them to \My Storage\Program Files\CorePlayer\player.exe and now when I hit the link in iplayer it does open coreplayer but doesn't seem to pass the link through. Next step is working out how to modify the ini so coreplayer is passed the necessary argument. EDIT: I also tried the same trick with windows media player but I get a runtime error when it opens Edited December 2, 2008 by 3shirts
