Guest Doomlord_uk Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Hi, I'm looking around for a service that can get my Vodafone Omnia unlocked on all networks. I tried unlocksearch.com but that site is a scam. They did refund me quickly though, which is something. www.unlocksamsung.co.uk seems to be genuine and claims specifically to be able to unlock the Omnia, but once bitten, twice shy. Plus, I've been around various local shops asking for it to be unlocked and everyone is saying it can't be, so I'm also suspicious. I guess an extra question is - could I just ask Vodafone to unlock, if I say I need to use it abroad? It seems they would rather I use their premium overseas rates so I imagine it will be difficult, plus I was told at the shop that they wouldn't unlock it within three months of the contract. I actually *am* going abroad in a couple of months time, so that wouldn't be the biggest lie. Anyway, I got a reasonable offer for my phone if I can get it unlocked, my friend is on Orange and also has a 3 sim, so I would like to get it unlocked. Also, why the heck are phones locked anyway??? They have the contract, if I sell the phone to my friend and use another one myself, what difference does it make to Vodafone? Or am I missing something?
Guest Doomlord_uk Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Also, what's the difference between a GSM unlock code, an IMEI unlock code and an operator unlock code?

Speak to Vodafone, ALL Vodafone contract phone are now supplied unlocked, if you have got a locked one they will give you the code to unlock it free of charge. See Vodafone forum HERE
Guest meddleuk Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Hi I had my Omnia locked to Orange and also had a bit of bother unlocking it, I tried my local phone stores but they told me the phone would have to be sent off for it to be unlocked. So I tried the Internet and wasted a fiver from an unlocking service advertised by Google whom told me the Omnia wasn't supported yet. Then I tried "www.unlocksamsung.co.uk", it cost me about £20 but it was worth it. In less than 24 hrs I was given a choice of 2 codes to try and the first one successfully unlocked the phone. So if you use anyone, I would recomend them.
Guest Compuse Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 I had a branded one; hated that T-mobile startup screen .. so I placed Paul's ROM over it and now it's free of any Service Provider's rubbish!
