Guest giancian Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 For me, it's not random... the Omnia screen turns on when the connection to the car kit or stereo is made, and when it's interrupted (for example, if you take out the radio or turn off the car kit)... but I get you, it's ANNOYING... does anyone know how to prevent this from happening?
Guest tmichel Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Hello, I have also the problem with Volvo's integrated Bluetooth carkit in V70 model 2008. I900 backlight is turned on as fast as carkit connect to smartphone. Turning phone off, it turn on back afew sec after. Thanks Th (FW Phone i900XXHHB/CEHH8, Phone i900XXHH9)
Guest gravityz Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 the same here i have a audi standard bluetooth carkit. sometimes the backlight goes of and even the display goes of after that but then is switches on again. it seems like the phone interprets data from bluetooth as an active aplication. Guest tmichel Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Should be bluetooth related problem, not directly with carkit : I just plugged my bluetooth usb key and paired my I900. Then I stand-by it using top power switch. Backlight turns off as expected. When I select my paired I900 device to refresh service from WinXP Bluetooth application (IVT Corp BlueSoleil in my case), backlight turns on then later on, after inactivity time out, it power itself off. I suspect carkit to pool for bluetooth device/service discovery phone status/cell provider and signal level more frequently in order to update its down display, resulting in behaviour we experience... The fun is now to find a way to instruct I900 to keep the screen turned off ...

I can not use this phone.. Also is dangerous, because is turning on and off the backlight so many times that is not safe for driving on the night. Iosu
Guest tmichel Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 yes or workarounding the problem by buying a cigar-lighter based battery charger .... Brodit (http://www.brodit.com/) released nice I900 holders ... TH

Guest rbecking Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 really don't want to go down the charger route as I like just leaving my omnia in my pocket when driving, there must be some sort of registry tweak?
Guest HermanH Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Same problem here, only i am not an omnia user, but I600. As soon as my phone is paired with my integrated volvo v50 carkit the backlight turns on, and never goes off (unless i switch off bluetooth or turn off the car) the only common thing between these phones (next to the fact that their build by samsung) is that both run on windows mobile 6. Sorry to say i don´t have a solution, just adding my 5 cents to the discussion. Herman

Guest Iosub Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I think there is no solution I have call Samsung support and they have tell me: "This problem is with you car kit, samsung implementation is correct" so.. I have two options: 1.- change the car, because the carkit is a factory implementation 2.- Buy another phone that is not going to be a SAMSUNG.... My days with samsung phones are over!
Guest Tonimix Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 The same problem with mi Audi A4 integrated bluetooth..... ¿Any solution?

It seems that a lot of samsung people owning a WM6 mobile have this issue. someone found a program to gently push the mobile to switch off the screen. http://classic.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=16314 I have not tried it yet, but i will keep the group posted if it works. Guest Tonimix Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I have a solution for this!!!! If you are installed de reg file "AUDIO.REG" you have this problem. I have reinstaled ROM and not instaled this file (audio.reg) and now i haven't problem.

I have reinstaled ROM and not instaled this file (audio.reg) and now i haven't problem. Great!! i hope it will help some people. I have the standard samsung rom and have no desire to add any rom which is not officially supported. Sadly enough the program mentioned earlier is not suitable for smartphones. After some scanning on several websites i came across a program from these guys http://www.edgewaysoft.com/mobile.htm I effectively turns off the screen (and keys) Only drawback i have not figured out a way to turn it back on again.. B) I raised a support question with edgeway to get this working. If they respond positively then this should help us all.
Guest Geronymous Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3BT in my car, and when the Omnia connects with it, the screen goes on... but if it is not powered up with the cable, it just shuts down the screen and goes into standby after the indicated times... so no problem for me. It just turns on when there is a call or I initiate a call from the radio, or when I enable A2DP...

I have an update on this part. the makers of this program said that pressing the powerbutton would awaken the screen again. They did warn that not all vendors of the window mobile platform allow for this. Sadly for i600 users no good news, once the screen is dark even the powerbutton does not reactivate it. I have to physically remove the battery to put it back on. But maybe for the omnia users it might help. Good luck!! B)

Guest Tonimix Posted November 24, 2008 Report Posted November 24, 2008 Any solution? Modify registry?
Guest Tonimix Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 I have flashed with new firmware XJHK1 (spanish) and the problem not is corrected!!!!! B) B) B) B) B) :(
Guest HermanH Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I have flashed with new firmware XJHK1 (spanish) and the problem not is corrected!!!!! B) B) B) B) B) :( Samsung is quite clear about this problem. The problem is in the area of the OTHER vendors selling products which do not incorporate the correct Bluetooth implementation. I have tried some registry settings, but no solution yet. Only thing which could be seen as a quick patch is using a program which blacks out the screen. there are several, freeware even. The simplest is http://www.flytrap.it/default.asp?p=blackme I hope it works for you.
Guest snoopy-doopy Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 The same for me with a 'Bluetouch.de'. The guys from Bluetouch told me that the prob. is the constantly data transfert from the phone to the handsfree (Battery Status , Quality of reception ...). IMHO the must be a reg. hack.
