Guest wingw Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Hi, I have been trying to transfer a 5gb file onto my omnia's "my storage" which has 14gb free through mass storage, but due to the drive being Fat32, it will not let me transfer files over 4gb. Is there anyway to format the mass storage to NTFS?
Guest balles Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) Hi, As far as I know, NTFS is not supported. You should look for exFAT, the file system used in Windows Mobile and also quite new to Windows PC versions (SP1 of Vista). Yo can get more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExFAT Concerning how to format the internal memory, I don't know, but it also interests me. Have you tried setting the internal memory as mass storage and use a flash card formating tool? If you have Vista, maybe it is possible. Could you share your experience? Javier PS : Find this: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet...e-exfat-fi.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa912080.aspx Hope it helps. And let us know! Guest awarner (MVP) Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 What files do you have that are over 4GB? I presume you are trying to use the drive as portable storage rather than phone use?
Guest Compuse Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Just google for some simple splitting/merging-programs; enough freeware to find ... meanwhile!
Guest balles Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Topographic maps can be very huge. For example, the whole France at 1:25000 would take around 40 Gb in Ozi file format (just with 48 colors). I don't know if this is what he wants, just a use case example on why one may need huge file not compressed in different volumes.
