Guest miles_muso Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) Hi All, I've owned my Omnia for a whole week now and have been amazed at the amount of customisation available. I played around with spb Shell, I've flashed a modded ROM (i900DTH9J/M2D03) and played with M2D, I installed/uninstalled Winterface, and all in less than a week! And it's very clear that there are a lot of experts out there, and dedicated amateurs happy to develop new apps and help out less-savvy folk such as myself. Anyway, here are my quick questions: PRACTICAL QUESTIONS:Whilst answering a call, is there any way to remove the large flashing arrow that tells me to "Press the action keys to unlock the touch key"? I find it a bit of a waste of time, and it obscures some of the other functions whilst it's flashing away.Where does WinMobile store the tones used for notifications OTHER than a ringtone. eg Alarm1, alarm2, Busy, Calldrop, etc. I'd like to be able to add my own personalised text alerts, for example (I can even do that on my little emergency Nokia cheapofone, so it must be possible in WinMobile!)Is there any way to make WinMobile's address book/contact list display the names in order? (I know my friends by their first names first, if you see what I mean......)Does anyone know of a keyboard interface that you REALLY can type with that gives no false triggering, no oops-I-accidentally- brushed-that-letter-with-my-wrist errors, and where inputting is REALLY possible with just two thumbs?I quite like FunContacts, which is the contact manager from iWondowsMobile (and part of their Winterface suite). This DOES have the names displayed as I prefer. If I re-installed this over the top of my M2D interface, would it automatically come up as the main contact manager application?. If not, could a regedit somewhere in the M2D system make this happen (ie FunContacts would open when the 'People' menu icon was selected from the M2D homescreen) NICE TO KNOW QUESTIONSMy ROM flash included M2D, which I also believe is called TouchFlo 2D. Am I right? If so, is TouchFlo 3D a 3d-empowered interface design system, and does that use M3D? I've seen some demos of SJ D3D . Is this in any way related? Can you see how confused I am? (errr, that one's rhetorical :D )And lastly, (but liable to get me the most answers, I suspect  ), in what direction do you think all this modding and customising will go next? Is it a forseeable future that we'll end up with a 'boutique' system whereby I can pick and choose what apps and features I want, how to control them, how to skin them and control how they interact, all on top of one universal, open ROM system? Anyway, if you've read this far down then my very best regards to you, and I hope you can take the time to answer my queries. Thank you Edited November 8, 2008 by miles_muso

Thank you Hi, I don't own a device currently (my old Wclass SE fell in the water), but to answer one of your questions, I've heard rave reviews about a highly customizable app that works great w/ the Omnia known as iContacts, which displays first names first (as I've heard) and is thumb friendly. You can run a search for it. It's pretty popular. In fact, I think it's in Pauls most essential (free) Omnia apps.

Thank you 1) there is a replacement ddl file which removes the lock during call function. Try http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-h...-lock-in-calls/ 2) They are all in the windows directory. I don't think that you can change them once a rom is installed (ie you would need to change them while cooking) 3) You can decide on a case by case basis how window will display each entry. When you are editing a contact you can choose First name - Last Name. etc. 4) I am pretty happy with the samsung keyboards, particularly the keypads - but I used to find TouchPal was fantastic on my old WiMo phone 5) Yes. If you want I contact as your default it can be done. Search the M2D Rom discussion thread and there is a whole discussion which steps you through the reg edits. (I dont actually use Icontacts so cant help!) 6) Yes - they are all the same.TF3D D3D (Direct 3D) is the type of drivers which the samsung omnia has to enable 3D effects. The TF3D uses a different type of 3D driver - which doesnt work on our devices - I think theirs is a open GLES 3D (but could be wrong) 7) Welcome to WiMo land!! Thats why we love windows over other inflexible phones! Boutique ROMs are ace!
