PhoneUSB Detect Failed Can someone share me solution for this please..! Hey yeah thats exactly the same problem I'm having I think. My phone part has never worked and I just tried updating my firmware to the DXHH1 and the modem loader program said that it failed to detect and or connect to USB port and then failed to detect and/or connect to a com port and then it didn't do anything. I was afraid it was going to hose up the entire process. Fortunately it boots into windows just fine and is the HH1 version, but the phone still doesn't turn on when I select the yes option it doesn't give any errors its just nothing and the phone side of the device remains off. What can we do? If someone has any idea whats going on with our phones please let us know I'm going crazy over this. I want my phone

But after I installed the i900 USB CDMA driver on my computer, it's sorted. I ran the official update again and this time it picked up the USB connection and flashed the phone part without any issues.

Guest cyberarmy Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 Is this the samsung driver (CDMA)? If not where do i get it please? Yes it is the Samsung CDMA modem driver.
Guest ownage Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 USB connection always work.. but when end pds part. and goes into phone part connection always hangs..
Guest KyleF Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Hey buddy, I got the same problem. But after I installed the i900 USB CDMA driver on my computer, it's sorted. I ran the official update again and this time it picked up the USB connection and flashed the phone part without any issues. B) Unfortunately it is not working for me. I've got the Samsung modem driver and it just won't work. I've tried at least three different full updates. I have also tried using Grand Prix to just flash the phone part and its just like the full update it says its successful connecting to the USB and then a few seconds later it says it failed to detect the usb and then says its attempting to detect a com port and fails to do that too. Could this mean that the Phone radio is bad? It was supposedly brand new and was packaged well so I assume it is, but for it to be defective already is not the samsung I'm used to so if someone knows for sure whether my phone needs to be replaced or if I should keep trying to flash it or any other ideas please let me know.
Guest ownage Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Kylef i have exactly your same problem.. my phone is also brand new.. same as you waiting for solution if you have any news please tell me ..!
Guest KyleF Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Kylef i have exactly your same problem.. my phone is also brand new.. same as you waiting for solution if you have any news please tell me ..! Most certainly. I doubt it'll make a difference, but I might try all procedures on a fresh install of XP pro. I'll let ya know either way because I'll either be cheering or needing some place to vent B)

Guest KyleF Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Any luck with this yet? I'm on my fresh install right now about to search for the topic where Paul linked all the different rom downloads
Guest KyleF Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Any luck with this yet? B) it didn't work I think something is wrong with the radio. It should work I ran a setup back to back after it failed the first time (again) I ran Grand Prix installing just the phone image back to back (again) I checked the log this time after it failed in GP Device name:5&20a9f4b1&0&1 EBoot version=01.35 Start downloading... PHONE-Switching USB to PHONE... PHONE-Automatic driver detection failed.. PHONE-Attempting to open COM 0... PHONE-Port Create failed...: COM 0 thats what it says. Now when it is attempting to switch to the USB in a full update it always says it had success and there is a single green brick of progress on the omnia. Then the Omnia just reboots for some reason and then it says that it failed to detect the USB. I know someone might say that I don't have the samsung modem driver installed, but I do. However if you read the readme file for the modem driver, it says that its for an SCH-A970. Don't know if this makes a difference, but I do wonder. Another thing that I'm not sure if it directly applies, but if you configure connection settings for active sync an option to allow connections to COM 1 is a selectable option. I don't know if its referring to COM ports on the computer or the COM port of the phone, but if it is the phone then I wonder if that could cause the programs to fail to connect to a COM port since the updaters and GP are trying for COM 0 not COM 1
Guest KyleF Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 Oh well I didn't check my phones version before my last post so I thought I should mention that my version now list the PHONE portion as blank. It always used to list with the same version as the pda, minus i900 starting the label, even though it always failed to update the phone image. Not sure whether to consider this a good thing or a bad thing.
Guest Unisoldrew Posted November 11, 2008 Report Posted November 11, 2008 The plot thickens. Surely someone must have the expertese to explain this as is sounds like a fairly common problem. It would be good to find an answer cos i'm still on the original XXHG5 that came with the phone. Does anyone know what improvements have been made to the phone part (called radio?) through the different ROMS.
Guest mrcdebenz7 Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Anyone solve this issue? Seems like a lot of people are experiencing it (including me). I need help solving this issue. Tried: Fresh install XP New modem drivers Different PC Fresh install of ActiveSync Original Rom Any other suggestions? You and me both I think we got hosed. I know I am doing it right and there is no excuse for why it isn't working other than the phone's radio as they call it. I prefer to call it a transceiver since I think people get radio confused with the fm radio that is featured in the PDA. Anyway the transceiver is either defective or not in the device which I'm scared to check because if I could manage to get samsung to take it and fix it which they won't cuz I bought it when it wasn't supported in the U.S, then I don't want them to void the warranty because of taking it apart.

Yeah I am in a similar situation. I live in Canada and there is not support there either. I dont know where I would get it serviced...
Guest thinkcool Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 Hey folks, Happy new year I just have an idea! i don't remember the exact link...here it is : -http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-r...re-version-fix/ what is interesting is to use the same hack off the ( Change the version in the phone's registry (from for example DXHJ1 to XXHG1 - to be inferior to XXHJ1, otherwise you'll get ".. already the latest version ..." message, this is done by uploading regedit.exe to phone and changing the value in 'HKCU\Control Panel\Version\CustomVersion from DXHJ1 to XXHG1 (------ is just an example). So i mean that for poeple those have blank reference of radio in the Version utility in System panel, is it possible to try this time not to change that reference but to write it in the same kind /way as for the Pda version, but we need to know what registry entry is the right one for the phone and try it. I hope this will help.
