Guest Omniamon Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 My omnia on standard Uk Rom (HG5) simply never connects to my wifi or any other for that matter. It pops up with a available message and then tries connecting but to no avail. I thought it may be my network but my Ps3, Xbox and Iphone all connect without any problems. All my Omnia software is standard if that has anything to do with it. My friends Touch Diamond and another's X1 has no problems connecting as well. Any help ?

Guest Omniamon Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 That doesnt really help as there isnt a password issue or anything, it just detects but never connects to ANY network.
Guest dede99 Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I have also no issues with Wifi so I would say try another ROM and if still nothing then your Wifi chip is broken so it don't work properly, no matter where I try to get Wifi I get it without issues all I can say about. Good Luck
Guest efjay Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 In addition to faulty hardware your problem may be your router. I had a similar scenario when using a Bufallo router - Xbox 360 and wireless pc (with Bufallo wireless card) had no problems connecting but the Omnia would more often than not fail to connect unless soft reset. After changing to a Netgear router failure to connect is now the exception, not the rule. So if possible test another router. Could just be that the wifi hardware is underpowered and needs a better signal but for me changing the router solved all Omnia-related problems.
Guest phillem Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 I had the same problem with my first omnia from Orange. Got it exchanged within the first 28 days. New handset has HH1 firmware and works everytime.
Guest mkc_vx Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Update your ROM to the latest which is currently HJ1. http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/index.jsp Regards
Guest Omniamon Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Updated to HJ1 didnt make a difference and IMO it ran very slow. Now trying HH1.
Guest Massive Attack Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 my sure your wifi connection is set to The Internet not Work

Any help ? as some posters have said it could be alittle tricky. if your problem is getting the opera browes to work, make sure that it is set to use work instead of "autoamtic" or "internet" if your problem is the connection itself and it seems like the wifi indicator just keeps on spinning ( trying to connect) you could try these things: 1. soft reset your device to re entitialize the antenna and software 2. turn off settings>system>wi-fi>enable wifi power saving mode 3. turn off bluetooth and or phone when wifi signal is weak as the other radios may be causing slight interference these three tips have helped me connect to different wifi networks, which was near impossible for me before i discovered them also i think the weak wifi radio of the omnia comes from the poor/short wifi antenna it has. im thinking that maybe using the headphones, which acts as the antenna of the fm radio may aid the wifi in signal quality - just a thought though as i have neve used my headphones yet cheers
