Guest reto_cast Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 only about 3 months. Maybe it was a problem of my way holding the phone when browsing the net. My left ring finger obviously was located on the volume down button and I noticed that the color started to go off after only two month. After three month, the volume down part of the button and the camera button had no more silver coat. I was surprised, how quick that happened. And from the side, the phone really looks, well, heavily used.
Guest spv_dman Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Same here. Mine started to peel off only after a month. I'm a "heavy user" of the volume button. I wonder if this is covered by warranty, if we can ask local Samsung service center to replace the buttons. B)
Guest reto_cast Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I asked spv_dman and the answer I got was, that Samsung Thailand does not have any spare buttons in stock. They could however order them from Korea I was told, but it would take a while. How much nicer metal buttons would have been! And if that was too expensive, I could have lived with black resin buttons, just like the menu or the power button.
Guest spv_dman Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 My thoughts exactly. The silver buttons were intended to make the Omnia more classy at the beginning but what's the use if it will ruin its looks a thousand folds after a few months of use B)
Guest reto_cast Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 Very well put spv_dman B) At least the silver should have lasted a year, the maximum life or fashion cycle of these devices these days B)
