Guest pdes Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Like many here, I have been plucking up the courage for days to upgrade (HH3 to HJ1). I want to keep it simple so have D/L'd the official version. I tried to run the updater last night and got the above error. This morning I tried to run the work-around and all seemed OK until I OK'd the format option after selecting the Singapore settings. When I said "OK" nothing happened! So, can anyone tell me what to do next? Can I just perform a normal hard re-set? I guess not as there would not have been a need for the "fix" but if you hard re-set, wouldn't all the country settings be lost anyway? Really confused! TIA

TIA Just wondering if I should hard-reset the phone then re-set the country settings and see if it resets again. Would this solve the problem? Thanks

TIA Hi pdes, I don't know exactly what you did but the format option has a catch: Turn on the updater, then first check the format option box before you connect your phone. When you then connect the phone you can continue the normal procedure. 1.If you did flash already you can format using the hard reset. I do not know if you will loose your country settings but that would be strange. For one thing it is recommended to do a hard reset after flashing to fully complete the operation. A known problem is battery drain if you don't hard reset. 2. Why bother about the country setting as it is not very difficult to adjust again. 3. If it is a problem don't cange it and use Secany's Roms, they are great and there is no hasle.

I didn't notice the format option as I was blindly following istructions. I think I was put off by anything other than an official update as there seemed to be a need to use Grand Prix - Too many variables for a nervous updater! I'll post the results tomorrow. Rgds

Rgds Well, you lost me! When I run the updater, there is not "format" option, just check boxes to verify that the phone is connected and that it is fully charged. As soon as I hit "verify" that's when I get the "incorrect software" message. So, still need some advice B)
