Guest zagzag99 Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 All of a sudden the OMNIA goes into power off and nothing will wake it up. No button and no power button only soft rest.
Guest balles Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Same problem here... we can maybe create a kind of supportive club for this problem? B) It's better to smile than to cry. In my case, the phone does not really goes to stand-by, it actually turns off. Can you please make a call to your phone and verify if it wakes up? In my case it is off.

In my case it is off. It looks like turned off, won't react to nothing (not even AC plug-in) But when I try calling it I can hear the static interference it makes to my computer speakers. But it won't ring or show sign of living. Have you installed something these past day ? I think the only stuff I installed were: 1. Voice Command (and removed it afterwards) 2. SRS WOW 3. Teeter game (and some other games of HTC that didn't work and I uninstalled them) Edited November 12, 2008 by zagzag99
Guest balles Posted November 12, 2008 Report Posted November 12, 2008 Thanks for the information. It does not work for me. Retrieving the battery also helps, but temporary. If you charge the problem raises again. Can you try charging and check if it reproduces?

I restored a backup quite close to my install of SRS WOW (the same day in fact), and it works again. I'm quite sure about the effects of SRS WOW on my phone. Can others confirm?

I just did uninstall to the SRS , an hour ago... since then the phone was in my pocket with the Power Settings of "Turn Device Off" after 3 minutes. I can confirm that the phone is still active and kicking. So stay away from SRS !

Don't believe it's just SRS, this whole topic has come up many times before - try searching on "omnia black screen of death". I've had this problem since I got my phone - in fact Orange are due to replace it tomorrow! I have found that switching off the Wifi improves the situation if not completely fixing it. B) Although the phone is being changed I believe it will only be a ROM update which will fix it completely.
Guest saznpins Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 I've had this problem too, sometimes more often and sometimes less depending on the ROM I have installed at any given moment. I agree that it will most likely be a ROM update from Samsung that fixes the problem for good.
Guest fergusso Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 guys it is SRS that's causing this problem. at first I can't figure out what it is so I uninstalled a few programs, still the same thing. then SRS ..... and then I put back the original registry files, and it is working again. 100% it is SRS that is causing the problem.

Guest balles Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 In my case it was the SPB Shell . Since i restored the backup before SPB installation it works again well. I don't think that it is really Spb Shell, because I use it and I have no problem. There must be another hidden reason. SRS WOW causes the problem, there is no doubt about it (according to my experience and other's also), but it is also true that it is not the only reason. I have noted that some GPS programs also produces this behaviour when the phone goes to standby while these programs are running (GPSGate, for instance). And you can also add Talkonaut to the list of reasons.

But maybe also it was some combination of the Shell with ather application. But i didn't try to uninstall everything and install only the Shell.
Guest zagzag99 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 I had the problem and i don't use SPB Shell (tried it but it's not sticking on me). I had it removed long before SRS WOW was installed... and only removing SRS WOW fixed the problem for me.
