Guest deadphill Posted November 13, 2008 Report Posted November 13, 2008 (edited) Hello Guys and Gals I have just noticed this deal posted over at hotdealsuk Basically it involves having a quidco account and claiming back £150 cashback, but it puts the total cost of ownership with contract minutes and texts to boot for £330.96 (now £430.96) all in if you have a quidco account. It's £335.96 (now £435.96) if you don't or have not already made over £5 cashback on the site this year. Still considering the price of the handset sim free its still about a £200(now £100) saving. Expect to see a few of these on ebay very soon! Anyway details are listed below as posted at hotdealsuk. And before you mention it yes I know the picture is the same one as below but I wanted to get this post out as quickly as possible to you all before it ends. Cheers PhillOut today exclusively on Orange - the iPhone beater - 3.8 inch 3d TouchFlo screen - 5 megapixel camera - 54G wireless - Windows mobile How to get this for - Phone Price £79.99 - Quidco Cashback £150 (until midnight Thursday) takes approx 2 mths to pay - Dolphin 40 at £38 for 6 months (600mins, 500 txts) - Then you can reduce the call plan by Dolphin 35 £33pcm. (100mins, 500txts) - Then on month 8 reduce to Dolphin 30 at £28pcm (100mins, 300txts) So the TCO divided by 12 equals only £27.58 per month!! Also when Orange phone up shortly after you have joined to see how you are getting on HAGGLE.... say you were really expecting to see some data allowance included as O2 do or that you really would have liked to use Magic Numbers on day 1. I managed to get extra texts every month when I last tried this with orange, admittedly on a cheaper tariff. EDIT:The big deal ended with the £150 cashback, however there is still £50 cashback available so still makes it an attractive offer. Edited November 18, 2008 by deadphill
Guest munky^^ Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Just a quick note to say remember QuidCo payments aren't guaranteed! If something goes wrong with the tracking, or the payer decides they aren't going to make payment, you may never see that money. I personally have never had this happen, and have used quidco successfully a few times, but it's something to be aware of in any deal like this.
Guest Confucious Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 And, of course, that does not include data. A phone like this without unlimited data is like a something without something else it desperately needs... Just had a look on O's website to check on data included and on Dolphin 40 the phone costs £99 not £79 but you pay £35/month not £38 - just realised it only shows 'top sellers' - that was on 18 months contract - you have to select 'show all' to get to the 12 month contracts. They do make you work for it, don't they?
Guest pd.ryder Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 And, of course, you could buy it from Expansys for £99 on a T-Mobile WnW Flext contract (£35) right now. Instead of faffing about waiting for 2 months for the cashback, then trying to remember which month to swap to which contract, etc, etc... Just a thought... B)

They do make you work for it, don't they? They certainly do! It seems you need to be able to use a spreadsheet to buy a phone these days.. confusing your customer isnt IMO a brilliant sales tactic. I've also been looking into the touch HD.. i had settled on the touch pro, then the X1 and now i'm thinking the HD looks the best. What are the rules with reducing the contract minutes with orange as posted, how does that work? Would seem that the quidco cashback for orange is now back down to £50, from the £150. and btw if you want data (Of course you do!) you want panther 40 and select it in the dropdown- 250 mb limited, but should be enough for browsing Edited November 16, 2008 by theroadwarrior
Guest Confucious Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 the data is only available on the 18 months contract NOT the 12 month one. And 250Mb is not enough B)

B) If you want to port your number when buying from an affiliate like expansys, how does that work? Do they have a box for your PAC code when you order? If i'm already on tmob and wanted to take up the deal any idea if i could do this and keep my number? I.e port it from Tmob to another Tmob contract?
Guest Confucious Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 you can't port to the same provider without porting out first.

T-Mobile have assured me (!) there will be some *amazing deals* come January B) Hmmm, we'll see...
Guest theroadwarrior Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 I've opted for a £30 a month contract with orange, had to pay £130 for the phone but got 250mb data thrown in for free which i'm happy with. Just hope my orange experience is better than the last time i used them, ~3 years ago. Support then was totally usless, plus had loads of billing problems. Touch HD should be here on wednesday B) Can any one confirm that after 6 months you can ask to go down to a lower price contract?

You'd better watch your usage then! What on earth made you go back to Orange? I hope, for your sake, things have got better and you're not disappointed.
Guest ant_thomas Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 This is about the only thing holding me back at the moment. T-Mobile have assured me (!) there will be some *amazing deals* come January B) Hmmm, we'll see... They told me that too after offering me a MDA Compact IV for £300 on upgrade. I was frankly disgusted. My contract is essentially £32.50/month. The woman gave me some crap that it was because prices go up at christmas and there will be reductions after the new year. Even after I had said I can open a new contract and get the phone for about a third of the upgrade price. I most definitely wasn't impressed, especially after not upgrading within my upgrade period when I could've done it for £100 online with no hassle. The only thing that will get me to stay with T-Mobile is if they get the SE Xperia X1 after Christmas, which I doubt, so I'm off to O2 because they have both the Touch Pro and X1 for sale right now wheras T-Mobile have neither.
