Guest meabigbaldguy Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 How can I disconnect automatically from the GPRS after downloading my email ? Is there any program to calculate my On Air time ? This works and it's safe... There is a way that works very well, but you will need a registry editor such as RESCO, OR Dinarsoft MEMMAID. I use both because RESCO File Explorer is a file managment app and MEMMAID is a memory management app. If you don't already have either of them, then you must purchase them, but you can download both for trial use. In any case, here's what you must do... In the registry, Go to... HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\ Find the entry called... SuspendResume. Change the string from ~GPRS! to GPRS_bye_if_device_off Find the entry called... CacheTime. Change the value from 600 (my system default) to 60 (my preferred). This is amount of time in seconds. Soft reset your device. This edit will automatically disconnect your GPRS connection after 60 seconds of inactivity, and without any further action on your part, and it works very well.
Guest ncb Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 That tweak is not working on my Omnia with DTHJ9/LTE02. The only thing it adds is it disconnects the GPRS data connection with a single press of the end call button.
Guest finaldestiny Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 Then that particular problem is as good as solved, no?
Guest Motofone Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) Ye Ha!! At last a fix for this problem. I was sick and tired of manually turning off the connection. I set my cache to 60 and switches off as soon as I exit opera now Thanks to meabigbaldguy B) B) edit: If you stay in app ie:opera but do not use app it does not appear to turn off after 60 secs but does immediately you exit the app or as said above press the end key Still a great fix though..... [/quote Good point, Motofone! I guess that I forgot to mention that the signal must be idle before it turns off. This means that if opera, IE, or any other apps are also running and using GPRS, then it won't shut down on its own so long as the data time doesn't exceed the idle time that you set in the registry. Glad that I can help, but to be honest, I can't take the credit for this fix, because I recieved it somewhere else. On another subject, there are many Omnia forums all over the web, but I think that this one is the best because the info here is nearly bulletproof. --Pete
