TomTom - For Mr.Paul (MVP)!!

Paul,

A while back, iirc you spoke of producing a small fix to make TomTom work without the aid of port splitter? Problem is, these splitters lose the co-ordinates frequently!

Tomtom always works after a restart, but on close and reopen it fails to connect. Restart required. Some suggest that it's merely the two log files in the root of the system.

What can us mortal souls do? I need my TomTom and Igo always crashes when I click on select a street name.

Humph!

Thanks, Jon

Since most Omnia GPS users successfully use one or the other of the above apps why is it necessary to use both?

IGO has never crashed for me and connects whether I open/close 20 times in a row. perhaps you need to find the correct data.zip with Omnia resolution support. Tomtom7(sometimes works) and Omnia is buggy (its taken out of Diamond in which it functions perfectly with built-in receiver not ever designed for Omnia) I dont care what anyone says.

The new version may work havent tested.

One thing you could try is flashing an official SS ROM (from Samsung) then try the GPS apps again. No offense to any cooks here.

Do yourself a favour and forget about TomTom whathever...download iGO8, you wil find it easely on the net! Your Omnia has enough Ram memory to get iGO8 running smooth on it...

iGO8 does not need a program to translate the GPS info like TTN does...it runs straight with the buildin GPS or on an external GPS...

I have used TT for several years and its only because they stopped supporting the software for Smartphones that I started looking for an alternatieve...I am not interrested in buying a PNA while I have a PDA/Smartphone in my pocket who can do even more. Maybe a good thing that TT stopped supporting the PDA market, otherwise I would have never bought iGO8. In 2006 I used TTN6 on my Qtek 9000 on a 5000km trip in the States and this year I used iGO8 (on the same device) on a 6000km trip again in the States and believe me I know which one I prefer! I do realise that iGO8 is newer than TTN6...

You're right - Igo is lovely, but I have a good reason why I can't use it, it's too memory intensive!

Alone, it's fine, but I run music AND GPS simulatenously via bluetooth in my car. It means that I can get music and instructions at the same time over all my speakers. Tomtom + music works fine. Igo + music runs out of memory quickly.

Humph.

I also tried IGO8 but the loading screen took too long and I also think it's too memory sensitive.

I now use TTN7 and it works wonderful without any gps programs, just the internal one on my branded Vodafone Omnia i900XKHG5/ARHG5. I thought I had to use one but after some weeks I read TomTom didn't need it on the Omnia. B)

That doesn't say IGO8 is a beatifull program, but maybe I will install it in the future with more memory on my omnia. Still no new rom for Vodafone branded Omnia's.

Raza what are your exact settings for GPS and TOMTOM? Mine works fine after a reboot but on reopening it doesn't work at all - I have to reboot again. I'm sure one of the clever bods on here can work out what it is that a reset does to make the GPS on the Omnia work again?!!?
