Guest camalot Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 (edited) Hello everyone, just would like a few questions answered if i can. Firstly, this forum is awsome, i've learned most of what i know from reading the advice here. Great work B) I've put HJ5 onto my phone and its done wonders to my battery life (4-5days now). Then i put TouchFlo 2D on, following the guide on this forum and its worked perfectly! I then installed the Teeter game and impressed my friends with it! Now i went to play a video today to show a friend, and it loaded up in Windows Media Player with an error saying "Can't play file". This is odd for two reasons. Firstly it never used to load up in WMP, always touch player? Secondly , when i load the file in touch player it just says video not supported? If i record a video in camera mode, it will crash back to the home screen if i press the play button after. So somewhere along the line something has messed up? Also could someone explain the memory screen to me. In "Storage" it says 10mb free, "Programs" says 45mb free. The Storage seems very low, why is this? I have always told EVERYTHING to install to "My Storage" Thanks, Adam. Edited November 15, 2008 by camalot
Guest zagzag99 Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 About the memory: Windows Mobile devices come with memory separated (most commonly by addressing, but sometimes even physically) into two. Long term memory (=Storage) and short term memory (=You can compare it to RAM on PC). The sizes are predefined by the WM installation. The SD Card provides additional storage space, but in the cost of speed. It's not as fast as a RAM chip, so it can't be used for Programs. The SD also requires more power so WM un-mounts it and shuts it's power to preserve battery whenever the phone is not used (like sleeping after locked) So install on Storage Memory only what you must, because it's part of the WM behavior, or a software that you'll need it to be active and accessing files even when the phone is in "sleeping" mode. (Like alerts, Messages, Wallpaper randomizer and etc.) Many vendors recommend you to installed in Device's Storage Memory because that's their idea of increasing performance. In the memory screen you have a tab at the bottom to switch between the device and the storage. In the Storage tab you can see the usage of your SD card.
Guest camalot Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) Ive sorted it, it was one of the TouchFlo 2D files that was corrupting my video playback. Thank for the memory info B) Edited November 16, 2008 by camalot
