Cancel the sending of SMS

hi guys, just wondering if omnia, or wm6.1, can cancel or stop the sms from being sent out? i know that there is this "stop button" at the screen when the sms is being sent, but it's not activated. anyone knows how to activate it, or can it be activated in the first place?
