Hi All,

I am new to this forum, having read many posts and informative replies I just applied for the unlock code via unlock samsung as recommended by other members for the orange locked phones, hopefully this will end the frustrating searches for help.

This post is to ask what a smartphone novice like me needs to do with his Orange (hopefully not for long) i900 16gb to enable the use of the satellite navigation?

The phone will be operating o2 if that makes a difference.

I was reading other posts which mention igo8? This appears to be satisfactory, as does Garmin, but what do i have to do, from scratch, have i to buy something? and from where? I did download something for igo8 mentioned in one post but although it is in my storage card nothing opens, in fact i try to open a few things with the msg 'open the application and run from there'. I have no application to run.

It is set to com3 and com9 baud 4800 as is said to be required in relevant posts, and these settings are default.

The phone version is HH1 or pda = xxhh1/bvhh1 phone = bvhh1 I don't know if this means it is the latest version or not, and if not how do I make it so.

I am not a complete technophobe so should be able to follow guidance reasonably well, if any are able to assist?

Thanks

You need a navigation program.

If you have good GPRS program then you can try the GoogleMaps that's pre-installed on non branded omnias

Or you can buy a nav app, like IGO or Garmin or TomTom (although i read there's some settings tweaks needed)

These apps should come on MicroSD card and then you just put it into Omnia and it's even self installs itself.

Or you can follow the apps manual for installation.

In the threads there was some patch to apply on IGO just to sort out the screen size.

But you need IGO app first.
